27.5" outside diameter cf. to 26"?
I am interested in perhaps putting a 27.5" wheel in the back of my 2011 Trance, but am confused about whether it would fit. Reason is to get the rolling advantage, and also to slacken the head angle a bit for racing.
Logic says it might not fit, given the difference between the two should be about 3/4" (or 20mm).
However, this website says a 27.5 with a Pacenti Neo-Moto 2.1 is 702mm (27.6") wide, which would fit easily:
turbo trainer noise levels
I've been looking at upgrading from my cheap mag trainer for a while and have read and watched almost everything there is to read and watch on the interwebs. I reckon I'd be happy with any one of a handful of trainers so my question is not about cost, quality, road feel, etc. Instead, my question is about the one thing you can't really ascertain from the interwebs and that is noise levels.
Wylde at risk of being Bulldozed!!! M12 Motorway
The Australian and NSW governments are proposing to build a new motorway as part of the Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan (WSIP)
I contacted the Parklands last week asking what is the likelihood the m12 will affect Wylde but have yet to receive a response.

Bottom Bracket Help
So I've trawled the forums and I'm pretty sure I've complicated what seems to be a very simple question.....or the plethora of information and marketing hype on the topic has consumbed me.
Eitherway, hoping the trusty folk at NOBMOB can give me a straight answer;
Simply, can I swap out a BB71 bottom bracket for a GXP compatible bottom bracket? And specifically, which GXP BB will fit a 2014 Trance 2 (if any).
Link Road bushland
Does anyone here have any maps of the bushland adjacent to the Newcastle link road, on the left heading out of Newy? Went for a sweet ride through there today, there's obviously a lot of moto and 4WD stuff but there's plenty of fun to be had on the motorless bike!
Is there much on the Wallsend side of the link road? Looking on Google maps, theres a ton of space over there. Better put my explorer hat on again..
Garmin 810 help needed
Hey guys,
I have just bought a Garmin 810 because I have the inbuilt navigation skills of a beached whale .
Can anyone point me in the right direction to be able to add MTB trails around NSW and SA that i can add to the Garmin. What websites are good for adding these files ?
Does it actually work ?
Should i just find friends out there ?
Any assistance will be appreciated
Cheers

Drop in XC race entrants
Interesting article and a question I was asking myself.
http://flowmountainbike.com/features/the-soapbox...
I agree with all these points, but for me the cost ($100-$150 per race, plus the extras in petrol/ food/ broken bikes) was getting too much to enter every race and now I just pick and choose. Joining the events and having a race series like they had a few back I think is the key to getting the 100km XC races back on track.
rear hub choice
Hi all
I'm in the market for new hubs and would like some ideas. However they can't be too loud... or obscenely expensive either.
cheers
Manly Dam double step
I was really disappointed to see someone has jammed a rock into the double to smooth it out. This is one of those technical features you really have to work at (and buying a bigger wheel size helps) so jamming a rock in there is just the worst kind of dumbing down the trail.

Specialized FSR stumpjumper carbon 2014 SRAM crankset removal
Looking to remove cranks to grease up BB. On the web appears I can use 10mm hex to remove non drive side crank, but on the bike it says "do not remove" and the drive side crank has the instructions to use 10mm hex, the direction to tighten and the torque. I am confused, which side do I loosen to remove. For some reason I can't download manuals at the moment.
Do I ignore the "do not remove" non drive side hex? I am used to Shimano not SRAM? Appreciate any advice so I can calm the creaks.
Sucking noise - rear shock
Im getting a sucking noise from my rear shock and wondering if I just need to change the seals on them and if so how easy is it to change as Youtube make it look easy.
Shock is a Fox Float CDT Adjust Kashima.
Cyclocross!
Just a heads up that the State Championships of Cyclocross is coming up - July 18 at JJ HIlls (BMX track) near the pub.
Should be a fun day - and if you haven't tried it yet it's the perfect time to give it a go, MTB bikes have their own class so you don't need a CX bike and there are free children's races so bring the whole family
CX is also an excellent spectator sport and we will have quite a few of the Australians who represent us in Europe competing as well as the RFS there cooking up a storm - and you can try to win your own CX Cell bike!
Chain ring
I need to replace my chain and cassette and jockey wheels.
My bike is only 9 months old but I guess the wet conditions in Sydney won this fight.
Now at my LBS I took the bike in and they said if I replace my cassette and chain I should be replacing my Chain rings too otherwise they cant guaranty my safety as the chain will slip..
I spoke to my mate who builds bikes as a hobby and he said its BS..
Does having to replace a 9 month old Chain Ring sound right?
Bike insurance. Which company?
I have my bikes as named items on my house contents insurance which covers them for everything and everywhere but since adding my latest bike, the premiums have rocketed so I'm wanting to put them on a specific cycle insurance.
I've had quotes from Velosure and Real Insurance and they're both a similar price and cheaper than having the bikes on my contents insurance.
What other companies are worth getting a quote from and has anyone had any dealings with bike insurance companies and c6an recommend their services?

Green Point - node and land use status...?
Went out to Green Point last weekend for the first time and found it was a lot of fun. However had no idea where I was going most of the time and wasn't able to find a decent map of the trails before or after.
Having had a look thru the older forums, there has been some discussion previously about checking with council about using Green Point. Was that ever done as I can't see any updates since that discussion? From what I can tell, Lake Macquarie City Council would appear to encourage its use for cycling but there is nothing specific I could find about use by mountain bikers.
Medowie conditions?
Wondering how wet the Medowie track is? Cheers!
Recommendations for Kowen Loops
I'm planning on riding Kowen this weekend and I'd love some 20-30km loop recommendations (can be previous race loops).
I love descending so please include the best descents Kowen has to offer.
(Don't worry about Sparrow I've ridden all but 3 trails in Sparrow, this trip is to ride Kowen)

This looks sick.
i am pretty keen. I only have a 120 mm travel bike but I am keen to go.
According to the website low travel bikes are fine as there is A and B lines.
This is where they have held a handgliding championship!
We should form a northen beach posse to convoy there.
Cheers
The Mistress
I was out riding "Daisy Dukes" yesterday and at the last corner where the track turns off to the reserve behind the houses of Penrose Pl and there was a new trail "The Mistress" a descending track. It was really good with nice corners and still not quite worn back ending up back at the bottom of "Daisy Dukes". Does anybody know when this trail was made. It is a nice track if you can you should ride it.
Have fun

Trail Question, looking for this cool track
Hey just wondering if anyone can help here, I've seen this cool video on you tube for a northern beach track. I cannot recognize it, is anyone able to help pin point the location or name the track ?

x fusion forks
gday, does anyone have any experience with x fusion forks, specifically the sweep 27.5, they seem to review well and the prices are very good, much better than the other two, cheers
Lunch time training
My training time is limited - ie if I can get 1 ride a weekend I am a happy camper. Getting out on the MTB or even the road mid week is also heavily restricted at the moment, so I am left with lunch time at work.
I am pretty lucky that there is a gym, pool and a bush track near where I work.
So - to help with fitness is it better to
a. run
b. swim
c. weights at the gym
d. spin bike (but the gym doesn't have a proper one but more of an upright sitting bike)
Any thoughts? obviously you cant do the same each day, but is running helpful for MTB fitness?
