CHAIN'S again...
Yes, Chain talk again.
Sorry, but:
I think I have proven it to myself!
No more foreign, well foreign to me, chains on my MTB Bikes, EVER...
Rohloff it will be from now on... http://www.rohloff.de/en/products/s_l_t_99/index...
This was the first time I was relying on new, other than Rohloff, chain and I was let down badly!
2 rides in Germany (fire trails 30km ea.)
2 x TH Perimeter and Long
1 x Massive Northern Beaches ride (about 40km)
and then 6km of Fling and ...... you all know what happened.
That's it, no more chain talk from me, only one will do it for me!!!

How is Andersons trail lately?
I did the Oaks trail yesterday for the first time in a few months and it is now basically a smooth highway..they have widened it considerably.
Gone are the rocks and the little technical bits are all smooth now. They have spoilt it somewhat...good for noobies but now its more of a training ride.
Im wondering have they done the same with Andersons? The downhill to the creek was always pretty rough..
Anatomic saddles...
Brian, Buck
check out the Allay saddles...the intro sequence on their websites says it all....
I've been using their "Sport" model, which fits the more upright riding position on the Enduro. Available at local shops.

The Claw
Like all the best inventions this thing looks so simple... so why did no-one think of it sooner? Possibly 'cos a large hook will do the same job?
Port Hills, Christchurch, NZ
I have just been to Christchurch, NZ, and there are amazing rides on the Port Hills right close to the city. Easy access, great scenery, mtb parks with dh shuttle bus service if you want.
Have a look:

Maintainence at Manly Dam = Closure of the downhill section from Nov 10
Just received this from the rangers. Personally I don't mind how the trail currently is. However I do hope they do something that improves the fun rather than what they did on the Allambie section with those inverted water bar things.
To Manly Dam mountain bike users
Notification of upcoming Manly Dam fire trail (mountain bike trail) maintenance work.
Please be advised that from Monday 10 November essential fire trail (mountain bike trail) upgrade works will begin at Manly Dam.
Wanted: Retainer Washer for Rockshox Deluxe Coil Shock (2000)
My son Benji lost the retainer washer/disc that holds the coil on his ~ 2000 vintage Rockshox Deluxe coil shock (Spesh FSR "Ground Control").
The image below is of a similar shock - it is the round silver disc/washer that holds/retains the coil (near the red lever). It is a round "washer" approx 40mm dia with a slot for inserting. Please check your spares box as I am keen to get him back on the trail. Pay premium $$
Sat 8th Local?
Yo!
I was going to be taking a newbie mate on a lap of the Dam this Sat, but he's gone soft so won't be coming. I know there's the Red Hill ride on, but would rather have a lap or three at the Dam, or perhaps 4/8 gates at Cascades - anyone else like a fairly fast-ish paced local ride? Will be aiming for a sociable 8:30-9 starting time.
I'm guessing there won't be many takers with many away at the Fling, but if there's interest let's meet up.
Cheers!

Old bike bits wanted
Hi All,
I have an old hardtail from about 2000 which is missing a front wheel (V-brakes) and fork. I want to use it to put a baby carrier seat on. If anyone has some spare bits lying around gathering dust I would be mighty grateful. The fork can be rigid or an old front shock ... anything will be gratefully accepted. Happy to pay towards it!!
E-mail is [email protected]
Thanks

NSW lags again
News from SA:
THE State Government is spending an extra $2.7 million on new and upgraded "environmentally friendly" cycling and walking trails.
...
The move is being driven by a "substantial increase" in demand for places to cycle, particularly mountain bikes, in parks and reserves.
... most trails only allow walking.
Mr Weatherill said under the new trails strategy, they would be opened up to cyclists.
Here's a new slogan for our State Government: NSW - being left behind again!

This could be handy for some longer exploratory rides into the BM's, e.g. Six Foot Track...
