Hard Case for rent - anyone?
Hi all,
I'm after a bike case (hard shell), the kind that will survive baggage handlers, for this weekend.
If anyone has one that they are willing to rent or knows of anybody that has one (and they're willing to rent it) please could you let me know.
Have tried KOM but they are all out this coming weekend.
Thanks in advance...
Five Mile Creek
Hey All,
I am new here, me and my mate found the Manly Dam track a year or so ago and its great, really trying to get back into riding again (its fun, but time gets away you know)
I though i would post up the the 5 mile creek trail maybe closed this weekend due to a Hazard reduction burn by the NSW RFS.
Anyways look forward to getting back into riding some more and using this good forum!

Mt Keira DH
Had a awsome day down at the gong today. Hit up the DH tracks at Mt Keira.
First time there and I was very Impressed, about 5 different trails with something for all.
If your looking for a top day out out of Sydney get down there but get in early as its get a lot of riders later in the day.
Cant wait to go back!
Hornsby Council XC single track update - next step to make it happen - emails written now as the time for comments closing soon
I have some feedback from council. The proposal (as posted by Noel) is out for comment from the public. They will take the feedback from the public (us) and assess the level of support for each area of the Unstructured Recreation Draft Plan. Its pretty simple. If there is a lot of support from the public for a particular area of the plan (for example bushwalking) then they will progress it and put it to council for a capital works plan. If there is not a lot of support then it will be canned.
There have not been a lot of letters/emails written in support of a XC track so as it is it may not carry a lot of weight.
The times for comments closes in about a week.
Head mounted camera's
Does anyone know of some good head mounted camera's, how much and a link or brand/model?
Helmets
Ok, I'm thinking about buying a new one, so someone tell me what I would be getting for $300 compared to something under $100? From what I can see they all meet the required safety standards, weight appears similar, so does it come down to the fit and the style?
It goes without saying I value my head and what's inside but obviously there is still room for enlightenment!
christine needs an extra tent?
christine has just called me from canberra and informed me that a friend of hers has a son just out of hospital in melbourne and is on his way to canberra to meet her to get a lift to sydney on sunday. he may arrive on sunday but just in case he arrives at stromlo on saturday, has anyone got a spare one man tent for him to sleep in? i know, this is a very bizzare request but hey! it IS from the blondest brunette in australia. if anyone doesn't know christine then i appologise for my babble. for those that do then you'll forgive me for this very strange request!!!!!
Where to ride?
We've just moved here from the UK and are looking for places to ride but we don't have a car. We went to Manly Dam last weekend (rode from our place in Neutral Bay) and we're looking for somewhere else to explore this weekend. Any suggestions? We've heard Oaks is accessible by train but are there other places? Also can anyone recommend a trails guide?
Thanks guys

Giant Bike Price Hike
Ouch... was thinking for a long time about getting the new 2009 Giant Reign 0, but not actively chasing it...
Went into Cranks North Sydney today and was gonna see if I could haggle down the $4295 RRP. Saw one on the floor.. asked how much it was.. and he goes.. $4900.
I'm like WTF?? I thought it was $4300. Then he goes, nup, Giant has just upped the price of ALL of their bikes. Next to no warning for the bike stores.. just told the new prices! OUCH. Me and my procrastination....
Giant Trance X0 now $6300 its crazy!!!
Oh well.. you snooze you lose!
Scummers - what's in a name?
Or more precisely, where did the nick name "scummers" come from? I've been looking all over the net, and even asked some roadies... put me out of my misery

I am going up to Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest for a long weekend and wanthed to find out if anyone knows of any trails in the area?
Trail design and construction 101 - Hornsby
I have a meeting coming up with the guy at Hornsby Council appointed to drive the MTB options in the area. The purpose is to discuss trail planning and building ideas. I am not special (well, special in other areas) and have no idea where to start. Hornsby Council seem to be very proactive in investigating this and are in a consultative mode. I wish to contribute as best I can and at the moment lack experience and knowledge. Can some people give me some practical advice on how a council's intentions translate to actual designing and building a XC track?
Wanted : Santa Cruz Bullit 03-05 (large)
Greetings!
I'm after a large 03-05 Bullit (Old style not the current one). I'm not overly concerned about what is attached to the frame as long as it's straight with no dings/cracks and the stock 5th Element shock is in good working order. A frame with nothing attached is also appealing as I plan to build it up anyway.
Please let me know if you know anyone wanting to part with one.
Thanks,
Scott.
For Sale - Gary Fisher Paragon 29er - SOLD
For sale: Gary Fisher Paragon 29er.
It has been off-road only once (Manly dam, 12km track) and apart from that has been my going-to-the-shops bike, so it's been ridden a total of probably 100km. It's being sold because with 3 young kids I just don't have time to ride it (and maybe to make way for the next project bike).
It rides a treat, eating most terrain for breakfast. Handling and stopping is exceptional.
There is minor cable rub on the head tube, and minor tyre rub on the chain stays (from previous tyres that were too big). Other than that it's in absolute mint condition.
Spring Cycle
Is anyone participating in the Spring Cycle?
I am doing the North Sydney to Homebush route, maybe a Nobmob group can be arranged if there are enough numbers or intersted parites?
Free ride finds another gear - Red Bull Rampage 2008
Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere but WTF is this all about!!!!

Even if you do survive the cliff face drop, the run in, even if you do actually hit the ramp, you then have too ... argh, I can't even think about it. Someone is going to die!
