DIY CHEAP FRONT LIGHT

DIY BIKE LIGHT
Hi. Just read through forums on bike lights and thought I'd try making my own to bike ound my area (Western Sydney) near some lakes. I bought battery 6v 1.3AH/20HR and halogen globe (12v 50watt)
from Jaycar's advice. Wondering if the wattage was OK? Bought a 50mm PVC pipe and holder to mount on the bike. Spent about $40.

Easter Social Ride

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hello!
When I joined NobMob Justin used to organise beginners/social/newbies/lurkers rides at Terrey Hills
Since he hasn't posted one for AGES I was wondering if any newbies/lurkers/beginners or other people feeling social fancied doing a ride one day over the Easter weekend? Starting about 8.30 from the shops...any day is fine by me
If you haven't been out with us yet but have joined it's a good time to get out and meet some people...gotta do it sometime...!!!
If you do come make sure you have water and a breakfast bar - anything else I am sure the others will suggest!!

Hydration Packs

Hi.

Having just killed 3 bottles and 2 cages in the last week, I've decided to have a look at getting a hydration pack. I've ordered a 1.5L one from Torpedo7, and am waiting for it to turn up in time for Easter.

Just wondering what type and size packs other people are using. What they like, dislike about them. Favourite brands, wear and tear etc.

Dirtworks camping

I'll be camping at the 'works and it sure would be noice if we could rustle up a posse roun the camp-fire to eat beans and tell tall tales.

Any ol timers been an' done this previous like, send a smoke signal 'bout the wagon train arrangements (ie. if there's any chance of getting close camping spots and when you have to turn up to do so etc.)

(doffs stetson and falls over his own spurs)

WWS round 3 (8hr) 15th April - Anyone doing this?

By the sounds of it round two was a mudwrestle... Is anyone going for round 3 and fancy either teaming up or just meeting up for it? I've not done an 8-hr before but I'm pretty keen to give it a go.

Here's the link: http://www.brightorangeevents.com/

Bike cleaning????

The recent rain has made the trails very wet and very muddy! Does anyone have a suggestion on the best way to clean a very muddy bike?

recycling cool stuff.....

Had to laugh today...was just walking the streets and I saw this old bike locked up...
it caught my eye because it had this huge plastic box on the handle bars..
Closer inspection revealed it was an old analog cycle odometer with a needle speedo on it...like the ones that come on old stationary bikes.
Hey if it works ...why not? ; )

(ps believe me I'm all for things that work)

Beginners' Ride on Sunday 25 March

Anyone up for a beginners' ride Sunday anytime? I attempted the Mooney Mooney Creek trial last weekend much to the annoyance of the people who had to wait up for me! Eye-wink Toning it down a bit this weekend. I'm open to suggestions/advice. I'm looking for a trail that's not that hard technically, but happy to go for a long one and/or do climbs.

Cheers,
Jacqui

Avid Juicy 5 hydraulic disc brakes...

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

correction : Avid "Dodgy" Fives

Ok let me set the seen...I have been sidelined for a month with a twisted knee...so imagine my disappointment when I grab my bike and the brakes are locked on.
Squeezed them a few times and everything seemed to be normal. So I rode off to work which is only 1km away...
As I prepared to ride away at the end of the day a remarkable thing came to light. The glistening shine of hydraulic fluid seeping over the seam on both of the reservoir caps.

Weekend 24th -25th

Hi all,

Looking at doing a ride this weekend and am thinking of heading somewhere new, would like to hit up Yellowmundee or maybe Redhill, have heard lots of good things about both and havent done either of these before. I know there is a ride posted for Cascades on Sat, but its a bit too early for me!

Start time would be around 9-10ish.

Shoalhaven Area Ride Maps

Wow... just stumbled across this:

http://www.shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au/region/Cycling/...

If only all councils were as keen, there's some great info and detailed maps and ride descriptions here. The northern area is probably do-able in a day trip from Sydney, but could be a long day.

These aren't for amateurs either, check this out:

To ride up from the coast up to Mt Tianjara is no mean feat!

Cascades ride - 24th (saturday) March

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

hey all,
I haven't really been on (the site) much recently, but I have been riding my bike lots (not long distances, just to work and back Sticking out tongue), I want to ride MTB again - after a long absence, and want to start riding once a week (to get fit again), starting last week, but it gets a bit lonely. So i'd like to meet up with some fellow MTB'ers for a nice, early morning ride. Goes like this:

When: 24th, March, 7:30am meet at Douglas Street firetrail entrance

Where: cascades in St Ives

Grade: I am not as fit as I used to be, so it will be a moderate ride

Bring: water, repair kits (punctures are common on this trail - even nail shaped rocks come about, just ask me), whatever else you need to ride a bike Sticking out tongue

Cromer Golf Course

The recent discussions about the legallity of riding the Bantry bay track got me thinking about other tracks that are well riden.
Does anyone know if the Cromer Golf Club has any objections to us ridng on their land when we do the loop around Narrabeen Lakes?

Careflight Classic Anyone?

I was talking with a friend about last weekend's speed run down The Oaks and he suggested we might like to do the Careflight Woodford to Glenbrook Classic.

Now - in the past I've said, "Bloody hell - $35 to ride down a trail I can do anytime!". But, since then have attended a few events and realise that the fun of the day is something not to be missed. I've also seen people flown off even fire trail - and anyone that saw Sunday's 60 Minutes story about Boy Wonder will realise what a critical role choppers funded by these sorts of events play.

The actual route is from Woodford station to Euroka near Glenbrook, and it's scheduled for Sunday June 24.

Anyone want to make a team (no limit on numbers, first two home decide the team time)? Or just go solo?

Entry forms are here for those who are tempted.

Whats the fun 10min loop called at Manly Dam?

Weve recently been doing laps of the fun 10min loop on the otherside of the Wakehurst Parkway.
We have been calling it the Nuerburg ring up till now..
