Parts of Oxford Falls Officially Closed
A mate of mine rode little Moab yesterday morning and said there is a massive 'no bikes' sign at the start of the XC loop where it branches off next to the Aero club gate.
Apparently the sign says there are Aboriginal carvings and fines of up to $5000 for causing trail damage (whatever that is defined as).
Apparently the same sign is at the entrance to a certain track that starts up on Mona Vale rd.
I just read with interest the forum on National parks interest in this site. Guess it makes it pretty easy for them to monitor what trails are where.

MTB future
Suggestions have been made to the committee regarding positive action and hopefully we can channel the same energy seen here.
Riders and walkers can share the trails but all parties need to be educated and aware of each other. I have found even recently, that walkers seem rather put out to keep left to let a single file of MTB'ers by.
But all my experience with the horse riders have been a positive, considerate and polite affair. We always stop and wait for the horses to pass. But we are the two groups with the most to loose?

National Parks interest in this site
Hi all,
I took a call from a national parks ranger recently, noting to us that some of the trails marked on this site were 'illegal' trails.
He has requested a meeting with Robin and I. I also spoke at length today to Adam from Club Mud, who has also spoken to National Parks.
The issue at the moment seems to be that there is a lot of direction coming down to close trails, with zero community input (in my humble opinion).
All those that would like to say their piece say 'Aye'... Ok, my eardrums just broke.

Mt York Plan of management
The Draft plan of management for the mT york area including the historic trails is now open for comment
It was suppose to go public on the 25th of Feb but I just got the notice from BMC
Any way it can be downloaded for comment here

'Conservation' Hunting in NSW State Forests
This is almost unbelievable news from Huw. Basically it seems some NSW bureaucrat has decided it's fine to let hunters loose in the same state forests many of us ride our bikes in (and are also used by walkers, horse riders, etc, etc). Dunno about anyone else, but I don't fancy being shot while out riding so may I suggest some letter writing on it.
Full details from Huw below...

The Oaks Maintenence Day?
So... we met a ranger just as we were finishing The Oaks yesterday. Right after the technical section of the sniggle that leads back to the road.
We had a small chat and the ranger was saying how they know that part of the trail is getting quiet badly eroded and needs some work. Apparently there's a new staff member coming along in the next couple of weeks who will be looking after this. I told the dude about and have spoken to Terracare.

Great work by Forests NSW
At Wingello yesterday we happened to bump into a ranger and have a chat about some of the trail building they have been doing.
Now, Wingello is a state forest, not national park so this only goes for their areas, but...
The ranger said that they were more than happy to build lots more trail in here. What has been done so far was very nice (I'm talking about the sniggle we rode that seems to have been put in for WWS this year) so one could only hope for miles more of the same.

Write and write some more
There seems to be little action here, so thought I should mention a bit of news from a while back.
Earlier this year I wrote to NSW NPWS regarding their maps of Ku-ring-gai and Garigal National Parks. I mentioned that these maps didn't show many trails that one can ride with the NPWS blessing. I explained how there were loads of fire trails in these parks that I knew were wide open roads that one could easily drive down, and ask if that's the case how come riding isn't permitted there.

Save Oxford Falls
I hope you guys put as much energy into trying to save Oxford Falls from being decimated for houses as you have into having a go at Alex...at least trying to save Oxford Falls works for the greater good of everyone!

Planned land development at Morgan Road ?!?
Hi folks,
I might have been living under a rock to have missed this info, but was anyone else aware of the pending land development planned for much of the land surrounding Morgan Road?
The development of 432 housing lots is known as "Lizard Rock", and is being performed by Laing O'Rourke on behalf of the land owners (Aboriginal Land Council).
Here's the web site
