One on One Mountain Bike Training lessons

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Just wanted to share some testimonial with you all. I recently gave a gent in his 50's a mountain bike lesson. He had told me that he had done a lot of racing and was quite fit. However, he wanted some tips on how to climb techy rock sections. This is what he had to say after a 2 hour lesson with Lisa from Sydney Bike Skills. www.sydneybikeskills.com.au

Suitable spot for FTP test in Sydney

G'Day Folks,
Not totally MTB, but related in a way. Seeking ideas for a suitable stretch of road in Sydney for FTP testing.

I have tried Centennial Park and Kurnell in the past however Ive been held up in the past at both and both also have slight downhill sections that made it really hard to keep the power high for a continued effort.

Can anyone think of stretch of road lasting over 20mins, either dead flat or slight steady uphill, no lights, no stops and no downhill bits?.

PS - Im inner west but happy travel 50-100km to find a good spot.

Many thanks for any ideas.
Cheers,

Help with new bike for training on.

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Would like some help as I have a Merida big nine carbon team bike but would like to have a second bike to train on. Just test rode the Trek superfly 9 and really like the bike but I plan on doing some XC events the Convict 100 as well as some 4hr races this year. So I'm looking for some help I what bike I should train on that won't make me slow on my main bike if that makes sense.

Can anyone recommend a Sydney based skills session/trainer for a beginner to intermediate level rider? Hoping to sort something out for a Christmas present.

Beginner mountainbiker in Freshwater

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi guys,

I've moved over to the Northern Beaches within the last year, living in Freshwater - and have got myself a Specialized Camber mountainbike that I'm keen to put to some good use.

Have taken it out a couple of times to Manly Dam but am hoping to find some other riders to hit the trails with, and who can show me some of the other riding spots around here.

I've not really done much riding since I was a kid (I'm now in my mid-30s) but want to get fitter, meet some new people and have a bit of fun tearing around the bush trails.
