Bike and accessory talk. How do I fix my brakes? What's a good fork for me? Check out this hot bling! etc.

My chain sucks

I've recently changed the chain and cassette on my bike and I'm getting a lot of chain suck at the underside of the cranks just where the chain should part ways with the chainring and head to the back wheel. It's particularly bad when under load on the granny ring and was especially bad on lap 5 of a very muddy Awaba today. The new chain has a split link in it.

Just looking for thoughts from the group - would you suggest removing the split link or does it sound like new chainrings might be required?

Buying a new saddle

Looking to buy a new MTB saddle for the Reign this week. Previously been riding on Fizik Gobi's which I have been happy with, but there isn't enough clearance over drop post lever.

Hoping I can get good advice on a comfortable saddle. I don't ride more than 30kms and don't care about light weight. I know its personal but looking for input from those that know.

Fixing the bike's gearset

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

My road bike has reliably turned its cranks smoothly for over two years with nary a service or an issue.

However, now the time has come that it's becoming a bit clunky with the shifting and the chain is probably well past its replacement date, and two stacks have led to getting the wheels a bit out of alignment. I'm sure the brakes could do with some TLC as well...

rear shock advice

Hi. I am after some advice re: rear shocks. I have not owned a dual suspension bike before but I am currently looking around for something cheap (older in decent condition).

I will be riding mainly XC style with some easier AM thrown in. I dont like to hit the big downhill stuff.

Considering that I will be riding uphill trails a fair bit, is there anything in particular that I should be looking for in a rear shock? I am mainly worried about pedal bob and losing a lot of momentum when riding up hills.

Has anyone done this with shimano xt gear I'm running the standard tripple chain ring and a xt shadow rear derailer on my hard tail just never use the other 2 rings on the crank when raceing

Like the idea of loosening a bit more weight of the bike as well any info would be great

Thanks
Duncan
