Manly Dam - how wet is it?

Did anyone ride at the Dam today? Am thinking of going for a lap tomorrow morning if it is not too wet?

Narrabeen Lagoon/Jamieson Park - Trail Work

There is currently some trail work being undertaken along the off-road trail around Narrabeen Lagoon, adjacent to the War Vets development. There is a sign advising cyclists to dismount. The work seems to be some general grading & widening of the existing trail - I'm not sure if it will be surfaced, but i'll keep you posted of any developments.

Maintainence at Manly Dam = Closure of the downhill section from Nov 10

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Just received this from the rangers. Personally I don't mind how the trail currently is. However I do hope they do something that improves the fun rather than what they did on the Allambie section with those inverted water bar things.

To Manly Dam mountain bike users

Notification of upcoming Manly Dam fire trail (mountain bike trail) maintenance work.

Please be advised that from Monday 10 November essential fire trail (mountain bike trail) upgrade works will begin at Manly Dam.

Bush etiquette

Where i come from , if you see someone on the side of the track with their bike pulled apart,it would be a standard thing to stop and see if they need help , any sort of help...During my second stop to repair a massive pinch flat at Manly Dam yesterday, no less than TEN people rode past without even offering help...thank you to the gentleman on the carbon GT for the spare patch, and thank you to the irish guy on the green Giant for a tube (which i gave him some money)I used up 3 pacthes i had in my kit...next time i'll have 4 patches and a tube.....

Morgan Road Firetrail

Looking though the ride trails I've noticed that deep creek is a "please do not ride trail", I was wondering if the morgan road fire trail gets you back to narrabeen lake if you wanted to start at the sports academy and link red hill with oxford falls.

Australian Cyclist Nov/Dec Issue

Anyone got a copy of this? Manly Dam got a nice write up and Cupcake got himself in it not once but twice!!! Even down to the point where you can see the words "cupcake" written on his bike.

When is the next trail maintenance day on the dam?

New gate near St Ives Showground

I often do a great training ride from the Cascades to St Ives showground and back. I went today and things were going well until I got to the fire trail that leads up to the back of St Ives showground (Just after the left hand turn off the Wildflower Gardens asphalt bike path). Unfortunately, there is now new a full length locked gate and neither walkers or riders can get through.

Does anyone know anything about this gate - ie. why it is there? Anyone else use that fire trail? Finally, anyone know any contact details of people involved in putting this gate in?

Cheers,
Vandelay

Five Mile Creek

Hey All,

I am new here, me and my mate found the Manly Dam track a year or so ago and its great, really trying to get back into riding again (its fun, but time gets away you know)
I though i would post up the the 5 mile creek trail maybe closed this weekend due to a Hazard reduction burn by the NSW RFS.

Anyways look forward to getting back into riding some more and using this good forum!
