Wildflower Garden Gate

As at 28 Sept 08 the council have re-installed the gate on the St Ives showground side exit from the Wildflower Gardens. Makes this ride a bit problematic. There used to be a very rough "track" around the downhill end of the fence (very close to a cliff edge)which allowed difficult portage, but it looks pretty overgrown.

Perimeter Trail Condition?

It's likely I will be taking a newbie buddy on a ride at Terrey Hills tomorrow (Sep 14) so ask the question...

Did anyone ride there in the last week or so and was the Perimeter wet?

There was a lot of rain last weekend, but I'm imagining it will be OK in most spots by now, can anyone say otherwise?

Cheers!

P.S. Yeah, yeah - I would post a newbie ride, but... said buddy is a little bad with clocks so doubt we will be sticking to any particular time, and as is complete beginner who knows how long this will take! Eye-wink

Gutterball @ Oxford Falls

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Recently someone posted a ride at Oxford Falls and I commented that riding Gutterball was illegal. This is the very steep chute at the East end of Morgan Road Firetrail if you don't know it, or know it by another name.

Well, since then I have found a proper overlay of the National Park boundaries and stand corrected. The Eastern edge of the National Park boundary ends before the marked firetrail and thus NPWS have no jurisdiction over the trail we know as Gutterball.

I need some help with answering some questions for my school project for geography on land management specifically in the Oxford Falls region. Here are the questions thanks.

Ed: If you could complete the form here, that would be tops:

1. What is your name.

2. What is your age group.

3. How long have you been riding.

4. Have you noticed any changes in the trails you have ridden on.

Bairne Track - what next for a starter???

Being reasonably new to MTB I found some info on Bairne track on this site and did the ride last Sunday: great fun for a beginner. I also did Soldiers Point and only about 200m of Portuguese as I was'nt sure how far down this went, roughly how long does it take to do Portuguese back to the main track? Also, what other tracks in the area can anyone recommend that are a bit more technical than Soldiers point ie: the next level up without wrapping myself around a tree!

How long for Manly Dam trail to dry up

Just wondering, what's the consensus on how long Manly dam takes to dry up after it rains. it rained on thursday and i'm planing to go out tomorrow on saturday, do you think 2 days is enough time? i know that we probably should be riding there if it's wet so i don't want to bother coming out all the way from the city and have to turn back.

thanks

Snow riding practice in Sydney!

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

From sunny blue sky to snow & hail in 30 mins!

So we got back from a great sunny ride in Terrey Hills...(joined by Graham, Harry, Chris and the young guns Benji, Xavier and Nick)....

Weather was nice and sunny for most of the ride...with just a bit of light sprinkle on the way back to the car...but there were ominous clouds hanging over the eastern horizon....

To our shock we encountered what looked like snow on the way home on Forest Way...

And on arriving home, the street scenes were more like Whistler, not the leafy North Shore:
