Ride only authorised trails - Ignorance is no excuse

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

The first of IMBA's rules of the trail is this:

1. Ride Open Trails: Respect trail and road closures - ask a land manager for clarification if you are uncertain about the status of a trail. Do not trespass on private land. Obtain permits or other authorization as required. Be aware that bicycles are not permitted in areas protected as state or federal Wilderness.

Anyone know if the weir is a problem to cross at the bottom of the Oaks after the recent rain ?

Many Thanks

Manly Dam Mailing List is Offline

Given all the rain of late, some people might be wondering why the council rangers haven't sent an official closure notice for the dam.

Just a heads up on that... I spoke to someone today who had met with the rangers and the topic came up. It seems the mailing list is currently offline and no updates will be sent.

At this time, please then use your common sense and take note of Manly Dam status update.

Please do not ride this track in the wet for obvious reasons (see General Trail Etiquette).

Thank you Smiling

Chiltern Track update for 30 Apr

Area:
Chiltern Track
Status:
Green/Open

Best of the bunch, actually this wasn't that wet more like damp. The slope allows the water to flow off the track quickly. Short but sweet climb.

Do you have more information?

If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.

When should events be cancelled

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

With all the recent rain in Sydney and looking at the trail status updates form Awaba to Appin being closed. When do event organizer reschedule events? Whilst understanding that event organizer invest a huge amount of time effort and money into make the event a success. local committees also look forward to the cash input it brings but having up to 1200 riders on any course under the conditions that Sydney has copped in the last week will chop it up and bring increased spot light on the mountain bike community from green groups and councils etc.

^^ Newby here ^^

Hiya everyone.

Another forum I thought I would join (only bike forum!).

So anyways, just to say hi, bought a Felt Q520 two days ago, took it for a smash around the street love it cant wait till sunday when i get my first run through ourimbah.

Im guessing its gonna be very different to what i am used to. I rode enduro for 8 years, trying to sell the moto to pay for the sport where i have to use my own power. Silly i know but i guess its a lot more rewarding though.

Well, that is all.

Chris
