Bike Shops vs Internet
It's a fact bike shops are losing business to the internet. Many of us on this site use the internet to buy cheap parts. If you read the local bike magazines the topic rears its head occasionally. If you talk to bike shop owners, the topic rears its head often. Can the 2 (internet and shops) coexist?

I know it's late notice, though after slogging hard through a painful term of year 12, I'm very keen for a nice long ride of Andersons and the Oaks and hoping I could get some company. The train arrives at Lapstone at 8:21am to get to Wentworth Falls at 9:10 (If you want to meet there instead). Depending on people's desire, we can hit St. Helena instead (I've never done it before), as I'm keen to see what it's like.
Anyway, hope to see you there.

Although the main fire trail is still closed for repairs (to the best of my knowledge), I'm keen to head around the many other tracks in Berowra, and am happy to have some company.
The pace will be rather brisk, but it's not a race, just a quick cruise.
Site newbie/ Manly Dam help?
Hi,
I really like this site, the maps, presentation, helpfulness is off the charts. Always wanted to go for a ride through oxford falls and did so on the weekend. On the numerous times I felt lost one look at the maps had me back on track. It was a great ride and an awesome workout, sliding up those hills took everything I had but was still very enjoyable.
Protective layer on Carbon Fiber parts
Hi all,
I was hoping for a bit of advice. I've got my nice new Carbon Fibre frame, but the paint is getting rubbed off in a few places from brake/shifter cables near the headset, as well as from my bike rack. The bike rack actually chipped the paint some, which I'm not happy about at all!
I'm hoping someone may have an idea of how to protect the frame from this type of wear? I was thinking a thin plastic shield would work really well, along the lines of what I've already got on the bottom of the down-tube.

Dont bother. Its really wet, muddy and not enjoyable.

Sydney bike paths/cycle ways
Does anyone know of a website that shows all the bike paths and cycleways around the Sydney Basin? Each Council area seems to have their own but was hoping there is a collective view somewhere

A bit damp and muddy in areas with some decent puddles hanging around. I was leaving some fair ruts in areas. Give it another day or two to keep it pristine please.

Manly Dam update for 19 Apr
Went there on sunday after it was said to be very wet, there were a few puddles drying up, but now should be dried fully up and am going again today
