HMBA XC Round 1

As I joined HMBA as part of the Spring Fat Tyre Fest I thought I would have a go a racing up there this year. I entered C grade and which is 3 laps (8km+6km+6km). I struggled big time which I knew I would as I haven't been doing any intense rides so time to change the training I think.

Position after Lap 1 - 13
Position after Lap 2 - 17
Position after Lap 3 - 20

Racing Ralphs wont inflate

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Need some help guys, I have some 26x2.25 Racing Ralphs, using DT X1800 Wheelset with Stans and am having some problems getting my new Racing Ralphs to inflate, I have been previously using Fat Alberts and I can take them off and on and they inflate easily, however the RR wont inflate at all. From what I can see the bead isnt sitting nicely against the edge of the rim and so wont hold air.

Any suggestions on how I can get them to inflate as I keen to use this tyre for racing and would prefere not to have to order a Crossmark or something else.

Mogo State Forest update for 28 Jan

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Still a lot of carnage in the forest from the storm that blew out the Angry Doctor back in September. There is still a loop available from the trail head utilising kick start, loopy, dam road, pistol shot road, AST, maulbrooks road, sandy pinch road, snake and trailhead tracks, but there's a lot more fire road than the usual loops. The short loop is closed and all the tracks on the south side of Maulbrooks Road (other than snake) are still closed.
Still some stuff coming down - had to clear two large branches off the snake track today.
Doesn't look like there's been a lot of traffic out there over Christmas. Some trimming work done recently on snake and loopy tracks, but there are hours of chain saw work still needed to open the other tracks.

What to look out for in 2nd hand bikes

Hi all,
I'm looking at upgrading to a dualie, though with budget constraints it will be 2nd hand. So just wanted to know what I should be looking out for on a 2nd hand bike. I've got the checking the welds for cracks but as for suspension and the rest I get a bit lost, so any advice would be great.

cheers

Great training website

Not sure if any one has already seen this but I'm currently looking into getting a TRX suspension system for general training and came across this website.

http://www.bikejames.com/

Looks like a great resource for all things MTB training related and the content seems quite informative. The home page is a blog but on the right there is a load of resources including nutrition, core training, routines, etc.

wanted to blag: a lift back from Jet Bacl 24

Hi All

I am wondering if anyone would be able to give me and a bike a lift back from the JB 24 to Manly on the Sunday afternoon? I'll be spending Friday night out there with the wife and kids and then sending them home on Saturday afternoon (that was it's a family activity rather than bloody dad and his bikes again) so I'd like to avoid having to take two cars out there so I can get back on Sunday.

If anyone from the area has space it would make life a lot easier for us but it's not critical

thanks in advance
danny
