Yellomundee Regional Park update for 24 Jan
Yellomundee is looking GREAT for Round 2 of the WSMTB Summer 4 Hour Series on 30 Jan (see www.wsmtb.com). Work carried out last Saturday has cleared the track just north of Shaws Farm and around the Trotting Track.
Keep an eye out for joe blakes - we found half a brown one after running over it with a mower!
As usual - please conserve the tracks at Yellomundee by not riding there soon after any heavy rain.

CCOMTB Round 1
Given this was my first foray into XC racing I thought I'd post a few scribbles on how the day went. Overall it was great fun.
I planned on using this round as a 'no pressure' toe in the water to learn the course and see how the pace was and if I had the fitness to do it. I figured C grade was about right based on the distance. Suprisingly I was quite nervous before the start, more nervous than before the start of a race in my other sport which is motorcycle road racing, but that settled as soon as we got rolling.

Thredbo update for 24 Jan
Had a great few days at Thredbo, DH is a bit rutted, but still a good ride. A couple of notes. Thought the Merida 120 might handle it (nope!). Blue a seal in rear shock and lost rear brake a few times. SE MTB rents gear. Kona Stab and the works for safety (recommended) I had 2 OTB's and blessed the back slider and full face. worth the $300 for the day if you don't have the DH gear. and no, 50 is not too old for the DH

CCOMTB #1
Dont normally write a blog, but enjoyed this race so much thought I would.
Lots of Nobmobbers there, I didnt really say hi, so should make more of an effort. Note to self.
A-Grade startline was like a who's-who of NSW MTB racing. Awesome to see such a field at a clubby. Mitchell, Trenton, Pete Hatton, True, the two Gav's, Chops, plus a bunch of other fit looking dudes. Oh, an yours-truely.
If you can ride with this bunch, there is no race in Australia that you couldnt hold your own.

CCOMTB XC Round 1 - Broken Skin
So my first time out for the CCOMTB XC Series, I am gonna be racing the majority of these races this year and having checked my calender there are very few races that clash with my road calender so I am lucky on that front. After being told that B Grade is where I should race, I reluctantly pitted myself against the likes of Gazza (sandbagging git) over 3 laps. The Course was short meadows with bits of the Magic Carpet taken away.

PB
PB this morning, not bad considering i am 125kgs

Cycling in the News?
Sorry if this is vaguely related to road riding, but it's also a comment on the media and what interest (or lack there of) they have in cycling.
This weeks TDU (Tour Down Under) has seen a number of Aussie youngsters shine at what is a Pro Tour event. There were surely a number of incredible talents on show this week that we'll see much more of in the future.
To set the scene, 5 of the top 10 finishers were Aussie, with our guys placing first, second, fourth, ninth and tenth.

Oxford Falls (Morgan Road) update for 23 Jan
Track is mainly dry, a few puddles but nothing dramatic. Somewhat eroded and surface is a tad slippery with gravel and rocks.
Quite overgrown - needs more riders!!
