Ourimbah State Forest update for 19 Dec
First visit to Ourimbah today. Great set up and track. Still nice and grippy in a lot of places, but the ridge areas are well dried. Did a couple of laps and a spin up the fire trail. First real sniggle outing on the Niner Jet and it's great. Don't really miss the extra suspension that the Prophet had and the overall set up was great for cornering - less of the feeling that I was "falling into" corners, if that makes sense.
Still seem to be a lot of folks parked at the lower spot with the "no parking" signs. Most seemed to be DH shuttle types, so don't know whether this is OK or they are just being lazy. If it's not OK, the guys from Mortdale Bike Shed should know better....

Getting faster with age
Went out today to see how the Dam was looking, and it was in fine shape after the rain. Did a slow sighting lap to check there were no surprises - it's been a while since I've been round.
Went out hard on the second, keeping the flow smooth, spinning up the hills and maintaining plenty of corner speed.
Happy to shave off around 30sec from my last PB. Even happier to be still getting faster at 50!

Riding buddies / guides in hornsby area for Pom over visiting
Hi There
Firstly apologies if this is in the wrong place, i wasn't really sure where best to place it.
I'm over from the UK until the 13th Jan and have my bike and my night riding lights with me. I'm staying in Hornsby and am really keen to get out riding so if anyone could show me some local trails i'd really appreciate it. I don't currently have access to a car so am cycling and using the train to get to ride.
I do have two sets of night riding lights with me so if anyone fancies a go a night riding i'd be happy to swap use of my spare light for your local trail knowledge.

i did awaba and mnt annan today
Both for the firts time.Cant believe my mum lives 15minutes from the awaba bike park and i never knew it was there!DOH! really nice trail, very busy this morn tho.Mt Annan was a very pleasant suprise, theyve really done a good job with the track with all the berms and little kickers through it.apparently there is a more difficult and technical 4 kms going in some time in the near future/just watch the long grass, came rather close to a common taipan there this arvo(round 5.30) so keep an eye on the 'moving sticks"!

Lefty Air Filter Oil
The lefty fork has an air filter in it and after cleaning the filter you are mean to oil it. Can anyone recommend an oil?
Cheers
Brian

WARNING info from Police
Following the theft of my Trek EX8 from my house in Queenscliff the police have informed me that the have seen a very significant rise in expensive MTB thefts on the Northern Beaches, they think bikes are being targeted specifically. Mine was in my living room in a ground floor secure unit!
So don't get complacent with security even in your home.
Anyone who buys a suspect bike should be hung, drawn and quartered!!

Lost phone at Manly Dam
My well-used blackberry decided to part company with me during a lap o'the dam this morning... but I don't think its ready to tackle the world on its own. If by any chance anyone finds it I'd love to get it back... its a grey blackberry, about three years old, quite beat up looking.
Cheers,
David

Terrey Hills update for 18 Dec
Perim and Long is a great run right now - the recent rain packed down a lot of the sand - nearly perfect and the tree that was across the track has been cleared
