New Commuter

My new commuter

Nice and cheap, made mostly of parts I had already. Not pretty but super simple and reliable (I hope).
Weighs 10.7KG which I am happy with considering the Talas forks.
Rides really well, very quick steering. Tt would be fun on a XC course actually, I must try it out sometime.
Currently running 44/18 but still working on the gearing, some of the hills around my home are killers.

I thought about giving it a paint job but I think I will just tape it all over with electrical tape for that rat look.

When:
Saturday, 22 August, 2009 - 09:00

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Ride Database Entry:
Menai (Lucas Heights)
Meeting Point:

By the sports field on Old Illawarra Road, Barden Ridge.

Show on Google maps: Meeting point. Login or register to get directions.

Join me on one of my rare Saturdays off for a jaunt around the Menai trails. We'll ride a loop that is favoured by my good self and is certainly within the scope of most riders.
This is a relaxed paced ride and there will be ample time to practice tricky sections, repeat fun bits and, of course, gas bag.
Even though this as an xc type ride, the wearing of armour is encouraged. Other clothing styles are left up to the individual.

Is this ride possible???

Guys I'm wanting to do a ride linking up a number of tracks.

I'm trying to get from Elanora to Nth Turramurra. What's the best way to go whilst staying off the road as much as possible?

I've mapped this out, but not sure if this is the best way. Ultimately, I'd love to avoid St Ives chase and try and link up Ryland and Spinx trails. But by the look of it it isn't possible, at least not on the Spinx side. I'd also consider adding in the "Single track" along Mona Vale road if it's worth doing. I did a rough measurment and it's like 32kms.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Mavic and CRC

I've heard a couple of times now that CRC no longer deliver Mavic wheels outside the EU
It says it right down the bottom of the wheel details
Yes, I could email them, but would like to know if anyone has tried and been denied

Sustainable Mountain Biking in NSW - Management Strategies for NPWS Discussion

Sustainable Mountain Biking in NSW - Management Strategies for NPWS Discussion (cover)

As some of you may have read, Mike Baird is helping mountain bike riders with issues they have been having with regards access in National Parks, and particularly here on the Northern Beaches (Mike's electorate of course, which is where his interest lies).

As the press release linked above points out, yesterday Mike met with Carmel Tebbutt (Deputy Premier, Minister for Climate Change and the Environment, and Minister for Commerce) to discuss these issues.

I was privileged to attend this meeting and put the case for mountain bike riders in the discussion. We as a group should also be very thankful that certain individuals are so generous with their time as to support these efforts and produce documents like the Oxford Falls Submission.

To support the meeting agenda yesterday these tireless authors again came up with another outstanding document on sustainable riding practices and strategies for an amicable way forward. Copies of this were handed out at the meeting and have linked a soft copy here for reference:

Massive thanks once again to Mike and his assistant for their support and everyone else involved in this.

As for the meeting... In my view it went very well and was very positive. We are awaiting clarification on a couple of points but hopefully there will be some nice news to report shortly. Stay tuned!
