Lights Again.... I know.... I know...

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hey guys, I know this topic comes and goes all the time and some people might be tired of it, but I need some insight. I want to get some kind of lighting system for my bike in order to be able to go to night rides, but since I’ve just bought a new and expensive bike, my treasurer/better half/CFO cut my bike funding to a bare minimum so I got to get something that is really value for money. I was thinking of Ay Up (www.ayup.com.au) as you can put a simple system for $180~200 with 2 3w LEDs. Has anyone used or at least seen one of those up close?

Cheers,

Leo.

Tour de France or Tour de Farce?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

So I'm sitting here in a sleep deprived state having given half a night's sleep yet again as part of my annual attempt to rekindle passion for a sport I was once so addicted to. I go to sleep in awe of the ability the sports elite, feeling on a high from watching people push themselves to their limits and doing what seems super human things. I wake yet again to the news of yet more disgrace from these very same riders.

Mid mountain tour

When:
Sunday, 12 August, 2007 - 09:30

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Meeting Point:

Woodford train station on the south side, funnily enough called Railway parade

Show on Google maps: Meeting point. Login or register to get directions.

There is a few tracks in this area that any warm blooded Mtbiker should enjoy, ranging from Woodford to Lawson there is some fun/steep fire roads including Terrace falls that most won't have ridden and a fair bit of exciting single track. The ride is mostly XC style rather than all mountain so expert bike skills are not required but up the pace a little and it's a lot of fun.
The ride time is very flexible as we won't be too far from a train station most of the time and I'll ride all day for those that wish to
See you there John Smiling

Chain Change

Well, I had to make a note of this somewhere and here is good a place as any.

Just changed the chain on the Rush. HG53 lasted (consults MotionBased) just over 400Km in just over 2 months... pretty pathetic.

Let's see how the replacement HG93 goes - it is a little cheeky Cannondale don't give you a quality chain right off the bat though, given the measly cost difference (I paid 20 bucks for the HG93 from T7 - picked up a couple at that price... niiiice).

Big training ride epic...

Okay I know this sounds like a big ride...thats right its going to be 60km of joy!
After the Galston Gorge, we hit tar on Quarry Rd and head for Castle Hill via Round Corner on the Old North Rd, we get off at Gilbert Rd and take some parks, and backstreets to get to Fred Caterson Reserve.
There are some hidden gems of single tracks here, plus the trails within the reserve proper and the BMX track, which is always good for burning excess energy.

But if you know what to expect just skip this part and sign up! We'll figure out a time and train closer to the date. Are there any establishment’s in Glenbrook for a drink and dinner afterwards?

Potential Dates 18th August, 1st September, 15th September. I'm not sure if we can accommodate everyone but we'll it a try!

It all started when Mark came into the shop and suggested that we do another Monday ride.
As any excuse to mooch off work on Monday and go for a ride is a good excuse and I'd just about forgotten the 20km long climb at the end of the last Monday ride he organised I was hell keen.

Sunday had me riding around Lidsdale State forest on my DH bike helping out with the chix skills day so when the alarm went off Monday morning my legs were a bit scared even if the rest of me was keen.
