Bike build project - where to start?
I want to embark on my first bike build project.
Having never actually done this, I'm not sure where to start.
I suppose a frame is a good start, but where to from there?
I want a medium travel (~140mm) dually.
I am pretty short (5’6”) and usually ride a small frame.
Any advice is appreciated.

No trading in the forums please
Just a quick reminder that we have a nice classifieds section here and since it's introduction any kind of trading (for sale, wanted, swaps, etc). should go on in that section.
It does say (and has been there for quite some time) at the top of the forum form:
Please do not post advertisements here (wanted/forsale/for trade) - use the classified section for that. This includes event entry transfers - yes, they belong in classifieds too!

Sub 40! Finally!
It has taken me so long to get to the sub 40 mark. So far this year I have taken about 6 minutes off my time.

Cascades update for 28 Oct
Pretty good condition with excellent traction on most of the steep climbs.
One boggy bit between St Ives gate and Acron, and the very bottom of Heath/Bare Creek track where you turn right to go up Quarry Climb is a 20m section with very deep sand.

Withdrawn: Giant Trance X Advanced 1 2012 (price drop!)
Can't believe not a single enquiry
Giant Trance X Advanced 1 for sale with less than 200kms on it. The bike is pretty much brand new with a full frameskin for added protection. It does have one very minor scuff mark on crank arm drive side. Apart from that it rides perfectly and is an awesome all mountain bike. The rear lock out allows you to climb easily, probably better than my old hardtail. Reluctant sale due to change in employment status
RRP $3999, was selling for $2500 drop to $2200 grab a bargain!!!!!
Frame size: XL

Few more seconds off
Broke a spoke at some point on the way around and a few walkers around so showed respect and slowed down, so not too bad.

Royal National Park update for 28 Oct
Great condition. The recent backburning has removed vegetation around some of the single track making it much faster.
Should have ridden my Whyte bike to fit in with the locals. Bumped into 2 guys riding identical Whytes and matching Bike Culture outfits then a little later a group of 3 all with different models of Whyte.
