Which Weekend Away?

Hey All
recently got back from a quick one night trip to the ACT and the KOWEN Forest, had a great time, they've really done some great work down there. It's hard to beat some nice flowing single track accompanied by a Six Foot Kangaroo bounding along not 5 meters away.
BTW the crest motel offer a good cheap bed, with the queanbeyan hotel across the road for a beer and a schnitzel.
So now im looking for ideas, if you were going to go away for a 1 or 2 night adventure where would you go and stay???

Terrey Hills update for 21 Oct

Status:
Red/Closed

Perimeter and Long definitely very closed!

Seems that hazard reduction on a 32+ degree day, low humidity and high winds can result in said hazard reduction becoming a real hazard. Whodathunkit?

Withdrawn: SRAM XO Clamp mounting bolt

Note that this is "Withdrawn" so is here for archive purposes only.
Below is a preview, click to read the full post

So going from N-1 to N+1 I seem to have misplaced the mounting bolt for a SRAM XO shifter pod. I still have both band clamps and one bolt, but not the other so if you have a dead XO shifter pod or maybe you fitted matchmakers and have a spare bolt lying around I would be most grateful to hear from you. They are not quite what I would say was standard so don't fancy my chances as somewhere like "Coventry Fasteners" and I can only find them for say with the band clamp, at ridiculous prices. I believe they are the same as for x7 and x9's.

This is what they look like.

Great Northern Road update for 21 Oct

Status:
Green/Open

First time I've done this trail and it seemed near perfect to me, a little sandy in places but not enough to ruin the ride.

The water butt outside the budhist place is a welcome rest stop and as I only have a 2 litre pack was fully utilised.

Lane Cove National Park update for 21 Oct

Status:
Green/Open

Rode through from Gloucester Ave to the top of Devlins Ck track today and it's all dry and good.
More mtb'ers than walkers out there today by a large margin. When will NPWS wake up to this and start managing the park for the main users?? Smiling

Manly Dam update for 21 Oct

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Green/Open

I did my usual Sunday morning loop again this morning. The air was smokey and humid and I encountered a good number of spider webs, but I saw a great sunrise and had a nice ride.

The track is dry and dusty and definitely "Green/Open".

The unofficial trail mods mentioned elsewhere appear to have been cleaned up. There were a few loose big rocks in strange places, but nothing very dangerous.

The Quagmire Causeway being built by TrailCare Volunteers and Manly Dam Rangers seems to be finished and looks good. Thanks Smiling
I'm assuming you realise that it will never rain again (Murphy's Law)?
