Lane Cove National Park update for 10 Aug
Rode through from De Burgh's bridge to Brown's Waterhole today. Not bad once the track gets a bit of height, but it's still a bit muddy along the creek before the concrete switchbacks (more concrete going in at the moment). Still aqueduct work going on at both ends.

Still a couple of wet patches, but generally good. Apart from all the dog walkers I had to slow down for...

Glenrock State Conservation Area update for 10 Aug
Rode here today for the first time and all is good, no mud spots.
Only real issues were the lack of signs for naming the trails and which direction they should be ridden in.

Seat post slipping down
Yes, my 90-odd kgs is to blame but I have a continuing problem with my seat post slipping down. The clamp is super tight so that is not the issue and I just do not know how I can stop it from slipping down. To prevent all sorts of horrible creaks the seat post has been lightly grease and I assume that this is going to add to the problem. Is there something else that I should be using, is there a loctite type product that would be useful in greasing the post to stop creaks but also helping it stay in place?

The Birth of Mountain Biking
Just stumbled across this site by Charlie Kelly, the guy who organised and promoted the first ever downhill mountain bike races (the Repack Races) in Marin County California 1974.
Fascinating stuff if you're interested in the history of our sport. Charlie Kelly partnered with Gary Fisher in Kelly-Fisher Mountain Bicycles before Gary and his father bought his interest out in what would become Gary Fisher Bicycles.

29er MTB Shops in Sydney
Hey Guys, I'm heading down to Sydney to buy a 29er XC in two weeks and need some direction on which shops to visit. Definitely need to test ride everything that's available in the 5 - 6 grand range.
What's your favourite 29er?
Thanks Muz

silent race and the curse of the cramp
The SS drivetrain was perfectly suited to the track condition yesterday, and ran faultlessly and silently.
The powerplant however performed less well. I managed to clip a tree at the 17 km mark and OTB. After passing a snake of numpty scummers in some single track the bunch in front stopped to inspect a log roll over at about 20 km in. I was forced to dismount, the act of which caused me to cramp a hamstring. This was the start of cramps which were to dog me to the end. Blondie caught up to me while I was trying to ingest a handful of salt tablets and Cramp Stop pills.
