My first race, did my mental preparation, some mechanical prep as well, same tyres i usually ride with, and took off in the third pack. Two hundred metres in , put the glasses away, useless, one kay in , sympathy for the guy with a broken chain, then a guy with a flat ....poor dudes. 'dont go too hard ' i keep reminding myself,...sweatin like demon, remove rain jacket hood, that's better, tractor up hills applauding my decision to run low tyre pressures, cruising past lots of people walking up hills, into majura and it's on the brakes to stay behind the pack, damn!

Tyres for a commuter

Hi everyone. Got a question got an old marin hardtail (and i guess a hardfront as well, not sure what to call that lol) and ive got 26x2.0 tyres on it. I wanna make it a commuter and the tyres ive got are horrrrrible!!! So the question is if the rims are for 2.0 how narrow can i go?

And any suggestions for cheep and cheerful slicks?

Thanks

Anyone wanna show me where to ride?

First time fun

First race and loved it. Got to the start around 6am and stayed dry with some others under the coffee mans tent before busting out to the start at the last minute. Best decision ever was to enter in an early group despite the lack of race experience.

SS was a wise choice

Well this was such a tough and fun race!!!

It reminders me of wet winter rides back home in Dunedin after a big snow storm has melting away to leave everything sodden wet.

The night before the race I was been hasled about riding SS especially since I had a nice new race bike as well.
As it turns out it rain most of the night which produced the wetest track I have ridden on for a very long time....

Punishment in the Capital

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Did the 50km Capital Punishment on the weekend as my first ever race and was pretty happy with my time despite dropping about 20 places on Stromlo as my legs stopped working and started cramping.

What i wanted to know is, was that bloody hard or was it just me? The sucking mud and clay felt like riding on flats for 40km and that last small pine forest just before Stromlo was like wading through a swamp. I must have seen about 10 people fall over going up the mountain as well, purely from fatigue.

Anyone keen for a spin at Glenrock Saturday afternoon on the 12th June (long weekend)? I was thinking about 2-2:30pm start.

Edit: I could do Sunday morning 9am if it suits Smiling
