Awaba State Forest update for 27 Dec

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Light rain has certainly settled down the dust and created a nice firm packed surface. Trail is a little greasy after all the rain with some small / minor puddles . None to much to worry about.

Trail is in great condition, just be aware that is a little more slippery then usuAl.

I'm pretty keen on heading to Canberra for a couple of days after Christmas. Thinking of spending an afternoon at Majura Pines, and then the following day at Stromlo.
Pretty flexible with where I ride, just have a couple of days free and thought I'd check out the ACT tracks! I'm open to suggestions of where to ride and for how long.

I'll be leaving from Frenchs Forest around 8:00am on the Wednesday (now Tuesday) and can fit another 2 bikes in the car if anyone's interested in coming with.

Ourimbah XC

When:
Monday, 28 December, 2009 - 09:00

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Ride Database Entry:
Ourimbah State Forest
Meeting Point:

North End of Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. There's a large-ish parking area here, just off the main sealed road. There is also a smaller parking area a little further (400m or so from the road) where the trail splits - this second area is the usual meeting point. If you end up driving up a steep hill you've gone too far.

% of HR on Garman 705

OK, So I have this Garman Edge 705 and I can't work out how to get it to display HR as a percentage. I usually display in training zone but percentage is useful as well. I'm in IT, it can't be THAT hard!

Can anyone help?

Malabar Headland

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

The guys over at Rotorburn have been talking about a network of singletrack out on the Malabar Headland south of Maroubra.

I sussed out this morning and it's pretty good for something so close to the city.

Here's the map.

http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=...

The terrain is a mixture of tight technical singletrack, and Moab style bare rock with lots of technical features.

This definitely provides another local option and is potentially another Manly Dam with good management.

WATCH OUT GAZZA!

Date:
23 Dec 09

Prompted by a frankly disgusting time by Gazza I set out to see what I could do. I've been off the bike for a couple of weeks but felt happy to break the 30. Hoping to get some serious training in for the Sydney 24 so aiming to better this.

Notes to self:
Quite warm (26)
Quite strong head wind.
Was almost dark (in fact quite hard to see toward the end).
Still not convinced that my start point is the best.
Need to work on my tech skills after riding the roadie so much recently.
