WATCH OUT BOYS!
tried a 'big' hot lap from mosman, round the dam and back to mosman.
wanted to break the hour and did it in about 58.30, pressed the lap button on the garmin when i reached the dam loop and ended up with 28.35 on my return to the same spot.
not bad for a 40 year old ex smoker. i know there's room for improvement and i'll try it on a hardtail early next year.

Winmalee update for 21 Dec
bush fire danger is over, just watch the burnt off areas.
Sections of the Park burnt during the recent fire remain closed.
Do not enter burnt areas; trees may fall without warning.

Andersons update for 21 Dec
http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/NationalParks/...
it's been off the closed list for two days, which may be good for a ride, but it might be an oversite ?
remember to stay on the track, no venturing into burnt tree areas, watch for falling trees and branches.

Beginner's ride advice
I want to take my 11 year-old son on a mountain bike ride in the Sydney or Blue Mountains area. What would be the best route for a beginner?

Ordinary first entry
Sunday afternoon ride. In training for the Mont... got lots of improving to go!

Great Ocean Road Tour
With the cheap flights available, and holidays starting before Christmas, I thought I'd do a 4 day blast down the Great Ocean Rd.
It's going to be a lightweight tour, on the roadie with a minimum of gear to slow me down. I considered the single speed for this one - having done it twice before on the roadie's over the last 10 years, but there are a few pretty serious climbs along the way, and carrying my gear too would mean I'd have to add a tooth or two to the back, and that'd just slow me down too much on the flats.

Blue Mountains - Fire Ban?
G'day - My apologies for what may be a n00b question.
I've recently made it over here from Canada. I was hoping to ride the oaks and andersons, and I'm getting a little confused by the fire ban policy. The DECCW website is listing a major fire in the Blue Mtns Park, with a few closed or affected areas. Does this mean that the oaks and andersons trails are closed to riding as well?
I've been keeping an eye here:
