Rainy day = good for video editing:

The first half is in some over-grown Fire Trail. People who ride there would recognise it straight away. We tend to call it the "Wet/Red Sandstone Track" as it has lots of sandstone sections, some of which form little water pools that survive for weeks after a little rain.

2nd half is the Fire trail leading to Whale Rock from Belinda Cres, North Epping.

Recycled Batteries

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Two packs made from old (well - they were physically old but never used, so the cells should be in good shape) laptop batteries.

Not for the feint of heart... harvest the cells (by ripping the laptop pack apart while trying not to short it out!) and solder together. The larger of the packs is made from two 'slabs' of 2S2P (2 cells in series connected in parallel) cells that are rather convenient to use because only one wire connecting the 2 'slabs' was required.

new bike, in the dark

Date:
1 Oct 09

With the Scott 24 coming up I thought is was time for a flat out night lap on the new bike. The new 2010 Giant Anthem X2 is so different to my old trail bike, light, twitchy and awesome for out of the saddle climbs.

Being a night lap I took all of the b-lines, I also crashed once which didn't help the time. Amazingly even at night time there is still heaps of traffic. I passed 9 people and got held up a couple of times.

Can't wait to do a day lap in anger, I think sub 30 is possible.

Scott 24 night lap - warm up at the RNP

When:
Wednesday, 7 October, 2009 - 19:45

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Ride Database Entry:
Royal National Park
Meeting Point:

Usually Loftus Oval, Sutherland, just off the Princes Highway.

Show on Google maps: Meeting point. Login or register to get directions.

Thought a couple of hours of technical night riding would be good practice, for hanging on the bike coming down Stromlo Mountain in the dark....... God, I'm looking forward to the Scott.

Change of plan due to the weather. Changed this ride to the more "bike friendly when wet"Royal National Park. You'll need good lights and reasonable night riding skills for this one.

See you there.
