Lawson's descent proper

then reality sets in

Lawson's descent

after the start, proper, of Lawson's descent, the trail appears to be a really easy flat wide maintained 4WD (2wd) track.
this is going to be easier than I thought.

Mt York, 2 down, 2 up.

Date:
6 Sep 09

Full Story ?
aaah. the sagas and epics that could be written.
so much scenic-ism and so little time.
lot's of rides, braking, sniggles, slogging back up hills, and at the end, walking followed by damn, this bit is fun.

Mount York update for 06 Sep

Area:
Mount York
Status:
Green/Open

nothing major to report.
we rode.
we saw.
we kicked ass.
well, as much as as two old-ish farts can try to pretend to kick without falling out of the zimmer frames.
both in much ache-age and ooooo

Mt York, all of it

that was a lot more than expected.

I figured it might be long, it wasn't as long as thought, but plenty long enough.

9am to 5pm is a long day in the saddle.
28kms, two descents, two ascents.

Up Lockyers when you wanted to be up Lawsons was a tad bumma.
But down Lawsons was fun and it eased the hurt.

Sniggling a trail along Lockyers and being too close to see the trail made me go wide on a rock which put me in the loose stuff on the next corner which had me face down in the trail going hmmm.

accommodation wanted for angry doctor.

after being in canberra for the weekend and seeing how cold it can be at night, martine and i have decided to try and get a room for the night prior to the doctor rather than camping. i know the south coast wont be as cold as our capital but we thought we'd put the word out just in case someone drops out and has already paid for accomodation.
if anyone IS camping, let us know where as i havn't got a clue where the closest place is to the start of the race.
cheers,
gazza

Freshwater to Wiseman's Ferry

Before the ride I made a last minute seat swap, stole the Fizik Gobi from my mountain bike and put it on my roadie. Pretty soon I think I'll have one on all my bikes, made the ride really comfortable.

I set off from home at 5:30am, my main aims were to average over 25km/h and keep my average heart rate below 170. I'm not sure how accurate the heart rate monitor is, it says my maximum heart rate was 237 bpm Jawdropping!

Maxxis Ignitor bulges

Has anyone else had this problem? This is the second time I've noticed an Ignitor 2.35 with multiple bulges along one side.
The tread is only halfway through. I'm not happy about it and they certainly arent super cheap. ideas anyone?
