Well what a great race & my First 24hr on an Single Speed. We arrived around midday Friday set up camp quickly then headed to rego, to see if we could change are team members around as we had decided a few day before to enter a SS team for fun. Well the Girl at rego was very accommodating & quickly changed it all around & then we where set. We headed out for a few laps, & realized that my head set had shit its self, thankfully the onsite mechanics where able to fix it. So now I was ready.

From Rotorburn:

http://www.auroraimages.com.au/ have updated their splash screen to include a small selection of shots from this years race (as opposed to the 2007 shots they had before) so it can't be long before the rest go up

Someone looks rather familiar (spot the NoBMobber Cool)...? Eye-wink

How to fix your Garmin Edge - Extreme Edition

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

We've previously talked about fixing Garmin Edge units here: http://nobmob.com/node/7864

And in that other thread there was a link to someone who bypassed the spring loaded connector for power.

Well, recently, Steve01 threw his old Edge 305 at me in disgust and taking up the challenge I decided to have a bash at fixing it. Here's what I did...

Garmin Edge Circuit Tape

Just put a bit of tape over the wires to stop shorts and re-assemble the unit. Job done Smiling

Test Edge Mod

Seems to work Smiling

Garmin Edge 305 - Connectory replacement

Here I've soldered some wires on the circuit board where the spring loaded connector used to be. These are solid core wires from a cat5 cable BTW - slightly tricky.

Garmin Edge Circuit Board - Connector removed

Here's the circuit board with that dodgy spring loaded connector thingo removed. Easy enough, just go at it with a sharp knife or a small screwdriver.

Garmin Edge 305 Front/Back connector

This connector between the front and back of the Edge unit is the Achilles heel of the design. If the unit is shaken a lot (as it is on a bike) then these contacts can loose touch just for a split second. When this happens to the one carrying power - that's when your Edge turns off half way through a ride Sad
