Dabbling with Singlespeed

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hey guys, I know I'll probably be shot down for this, but I was just thinking of dabbling in some singlespeed. I was thinking of getting into it as a DIY project and just slowly build one up over time. Nothing urgent or immediate

What makes it slightly different is I was thinking of having a multi-purpose SS bike. SS to commute for added training (rather than add km's) and a SS for fun on the trails. Could this be as simple as 1 bike, 2 sets of wheels? Then there is the question of rigid fork or suspension, 29 or 26 and many others.

More Wollongong downhill riding - Sat 20th?

Greetings!!

Was anyone interested in riding some more downhill stuff at Wollongong this Saturady 20th? If so, we will need to figure out the shuttling logistics, as it is not a good place to walk back. Let me know. Smiling

First long race

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Started off not knowing what to expect, guess I went out a bit too hard. Felt fine for the first 20km or so, having devoured a couple of gels off the top tube buffet. I looked down and noticed that my speedo wasn't reading, I had a quick stop and saw that the magnet had loosened itself and moved. I quickly unscrewed it and chucked it in my camelback thinking I shouldnt waste time setting up my speedo again. So at that point any vague plan I had of regular gels went out the door. By the time I saw the 35km sign I was totally exhausted.

Pre Terrey Hills social ride spin

When:
Wednesday, 17 September, 2008 - 18:00

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.

Ride Database Entry:
Centre Track
Ride Database Entry:
Duck Hole/Terrey Hills Trail
Meeting Point:

Meet at Terrey Hills Tavern car park. Normally park in far right hand corner from the car park entrance.

A steady, medium paced (ie faster than social but not race pace) spin out along Duck Holes & Centre tracks to get some additional k's in, aiming to meet back up with the 19:15 ride at the Tavern (or catching them up if back late, which we shouldn't be) to warm down and 'socialise' before suitable post-ride frothing liquid refreshment based proceedings inside the Tavern commence.

Total km's = about 36 for the night.
Total beers = 2 for the driver, as many as you like for the passengers.
Total bags of chips = surely we can find some decent food in there by now!
