Wiseman's Ferry epic ride
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Car park in the reserve by the ferry wharf.
Ooooooooooooh, Matron, slap the gloves on and grab the vaseline - this one's gunna hurt!
I did this 100k ride solo at the end of summer and it was a bit of an epic - seeing as I thought it was only 80k's, I ran out of water, and there was a flood on the road at St Albans which forced me to push through 1km of waist deep water. However, it was an awesome day and I'm going to do it again because a0 it was fun and b) it'll be a good indicator of how much more training I need to do for the Angry Doctor.

DIY - Fork Repairs
I think I'm bored by all this rain because I just rescued an old pair of forks a mate was chucking and I'm going try and fix them.
They are 2003 Rockshox SID Team (dual air, climb-it control, etc) with a massive 63mm-80mm of travel - I think to change travel from 63mm to 80mm you need to fiddle with the inner workings and therefore a shop service - so these are 63mm.
The first thing I want to do is renew the upper legs. The upper legs measure 130mm but as only 63mm is used, the top 67mm is in poor condition (its like the metallic coating on the legs are peeling).

Wet Weather - Please Avoid Manly Dam
We've not heard anything from the rangers, but given this week has been one of the wettest all year (see weather and look at the 6-ish month graph) think it would be wise to avoid Manly Dam at the moment.
Sorry folks, it's easy for those of us heading down South to say, but really think you're going to find a boggy mud fest at Manly if you ride there.

Warringah Council Meeting Update
On Tuesday (Jun 2) I attended a round table discussion organised by Warringah Council.
The council are preparing a long term recreational policy and invited people from a broad spectrum of the community to several meetings such as this. They will also be meeting with other government groups such as NPWS, although I'm not sure if we will have any visibility of what happens at those meetings.
I think we were very fortunate to be invited to this discussion and that overall it was productive and had some good outcomes.

The Ineffectivness of Signage
"A six-year-old boy has died after a collision between a school bus and a loaded coal train at a level crossing"
"Queensland Premier Anna Bligh told State Parliament today there was thick fog in the area at the time of the accident and visibility had been reduced to just 50 metres."
"There were no boom gates at the crossing but there was a rail crossing sign and a give-way sign."
"We will be leaving no stone unturned in investigating what has happened," Mr Hopper said."

Politicans ride their bikes as well
I just spotted this in the SMH.
Yes its roadie talk but hey I wonder if Mr Abbott has ever tried to take the MTB for a spin in his local backyard Forestville?. Good Luck he would have to drive round to Manly Dam
