Ok, so who now has a branch thru their leg?
So.... A Wednesday cascades night ride ended badly for someone that one of you knows out there... They ended up in the ED with a stick 2 inches into their leg! As you do... Anyone care to shed any more light on the situation, or know how mr sticky is recovering?
Otherwise I hope everyone's injuries will be healed in time for Xmas (there seems to be a few going around of late).
And before @hawkeye says it... We will need photos...

New To Riding
Hey everyone just got a mountain bike and have just started riding. I was wondering if there were ever any group rides I might be able to tag along with. I have looked at the red hill trails and others and other and they look like mazes and I don't want to get lost. It would be really nice to ride and learn the trails with other bikers. I've done the Manly Dam ride three times (went from 1 hour down to 40 minutes already) now and while it's fun I think I may get bored of only riding that. So if anyone is riding and wouldn't mind a tag along I would love to come and ride and meet some people.

Xmas Terrey Hills ride
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
The festive season is a great time of year to spend some quality time with close friends and loved ones - but don't neglect the real 'significant other' in your life - your MTB.
This ride will take in perimeter, long then cullamine tracks to get the heart rate up a bit, then a bit of bitumen and back to to the shops via some single track near the japanese school.
A dessert of some of the best legal single track in the locale courtesy of the st ives sniggle including the golf ball infested 'muppet show' will be served to those who feel up to it on the day.

Drivetrain maintenance
My bikes getting on a bit now and is getting a bit "loose".
I do maintain my own bike. Every 2-3 rides i take my cassette off and chain along with chain rings and give them a solid clean, i lube the chain every ride and all that yadayadayadaa....
I haven't done gear cables and outters on my bike yet and its probably due for it so my question is how hard are gear cables to do? What tools do i need and what cables must i go for, any tips or tricks.
Thanks fellas.
Jono.

riding with C7 fracture?
hi guys,
had a follow up call from the hospital today and it appears they've missed a little detail on the weekend..
it's called an 'undisplaced fracture of the C7 spinous process' ?
in my case they said everything was sitting exactly where it's supposed to be and i don't even have to wear a neck brace and should do gentle neck exercises and to just keep things easy until i feel better.
the question is.. at what point would one consider an easy ride on a fire trail a 'gentle neck exercise".
just wondering if anyone's been through this before and how long you've been off the bike.

Rotor diameters
I've just picked up a set of 2014 XT brakes from Pushy's in the ACT for a good price ($100 an end, sans rotors and brackets) and need to pick your brains on appropriate rotor sizes.
Currently the Scalpel 29r has 180F/160R with the Elixir 9s.
Will 180 be too much on the front with the XTs?
