Q Factor???
Hello all
I am confused as hell on what SRAM's Q factor actually is.....

New chain?
I need to replace my chain but, as we all do, I wonder what gear to get for my trusted bike. What I'm wondering, should I go for a better/more expensive chain (hopefully more durable), or should I just go for a less expensive one a change it more frequently?
I'm currently running a Shimano HG 74 10 speede chain, with Deore components except the SLX rear derailleur.
Should I go up in the chain to HG94 or M980? Or drop down to HG54 and replace it more frequently?
Can I use other chains than Shimano (it says on the crank HGX Chain only)?
Thanks!

2013 3 Ring Circus
This was my first attempt in the 3 Ring Circus and was not sure what to expect. Previous years I had been soft with the prospect of mid winter conditions and having my mindset biased towards the full marathon events. But 2013 was time to have a crack and set a target time of 2:20. There was plenty of fast competition so the plan was to try and hold on to the early pace and not to blow up in the process.

2013 3 Ring Circus
The 3 Ring was my first mtb race back in 2011 when i scraped in under 3hrs after a leisurely blue lap. With that in mind I was determined to be closer to the front this time and straight away that disappeared. (Clearly another one who's too polite to push in).

3 Ring Circus - 2013
Another great event by Wild Horizons. Well done to everyone that finished on Sunday. I've written a race report here

NPWS mountain bike survey- GPS tracking study
I received this eMail last week from NPWS & have their permission to forward the contact details.
I'm not sure how it ties in to the proposed trails at Bantry Bay, but I guess the more people that reply, the better. You can use whichever GPS tracking software you like - as long as you are able to eMail GPX files.
Also, the 4 week period for tracking is up to yourself to chosse. Get Involved!
The area of interest covers the greater Northern Sydney area:

'twas a good day int saddle!
I'll start with a brief story of what happened in the previous nights 20km race,
During a cold night race with a blistering pace, I'd managed to get in the second group with Dicko, another Mate from Manly, Myself and another Rider, We all stuck together for the whole 20km loop, just near the end the bloke that had been sucking our wheels for the whole time made a sprint for the lead, We didn't know why but realised pretty soon that the finish line had crept up on us and he claimed the win with Myself in 2nd and Dicko in 3rd and my mate from Manly missing out on a well earned podium spot.

Terrey Hills update for 28 Jul
Rode Perimeter / Long Tracks today from Echunga Rd, exiting via RFS/Nerang Rd.
The section back of the houses between Nerang Rd and Echunga is quite muddy at the Nerang Rd (Terrey Hills Shops) end, with some deep puddles/bogs.
Rest of the track is fine, with dry lines through most of the bogs, although the first creek causeway was deeper than expected. If you avoid the section between Echunga and Nerang, you'll exit with a largely clean bike.
Do you have more information?
If you've ridden here lately please add a more recent report. This will be useful even if the condition is the same as updates expire after 30 days.
