6 Ring Circus

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Decided to do both the night and day version this year and camp out at the event centre. Good to be in the thick of the circus event centre vibe, though I'm getting bit old for extended periods of techno beats.... Smiling

3 Rings circus Team entry

Happy with my first bike race, I finished! I did the Blue and Yellow course and my mate Dave did the Red course. We weren't first but overall a solid effort by both of us. We now have a time to beat next year!

Red Hill update for 28 Jul

Area:
Red Hill
Status:
Green/Open

Pretty dry and actually loose and sandy in places which are often sodden. I didn't ride Drop Zone, and it looked like it could still be damp right down the bottom.

A few holes developing in the sniggle across the top where an inexperienced moto has had trouble negotiating the roots, but nothing unrideable.

A few user groups out today, and who doesn't like the smell of two stroke in the morning. :-/

Hard to beat.

So far this year I've had some ok race results. Top 10 in my category in capital punishment, and just outside top 10 for convict. So my goal for three ring circus was top 10 in male masters and top 50 overall. This was my first time doing this race, so I looked at last year's results and figured I would need to go well under 2 hours 30 to achieve my goal. My preparation had gone well - personal best times in my last couple of training rides, and I had one practise ride on the trails at Wingello 2 weeks ago - the stage was set to achieve my goal.

Suitable trail for today ?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Morning all, looking for people's suggestions on a good trail to ride with my 10 year old son.

He has an really unsuitable bike in the form of a Giant DH Comp. He's used to pushing it up hill, he's ridden OMV, Jubes, North Turra, part of Manly Dam and two trails off north head road.

Looking for less uphill, more level and downhill, dont mind it rough, I appreciate a lighter bike would help, he's very attached to it, and dreams of adding a little electric assistance......we'll see........

Please let me know if you have suggestions of trails for today?

Old Man's Valley update for 27 Jul

Status:
Green/Open

About as good as it gets this afternoon, even the north side near the pool which can get a bit damp was great.

I was demo'ing a Trek Superfly 100 AL Elite courtesy of my local LBS. Great Scott what a difference to my current entry level Hardtail 29er... Almost felt as I was cheating going round, haven't uploaded the ride yet but expect a few PR's.

Manly Dam update for 27 Jul

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Green/Open

Rode it this morning at about 7 am. Despite the cold weather, the dam is probably the dryest I have seen it in a while. Aside from some of the humps used to wash rain of the track, there isn't really any damp parts. Go out and have fun while the weather lasts!
