Cutting trail "Nicks"
The idea is to allow water to slide off the side of the track and dissipate into the undergrowth, avoiding either having puddles form or allowing the water to gain momentum and carry away trail surface soil.
Here we're looking to direct the water away before it can gain momentum on the next descent. There were already signs of a channel forming further down, stripping supporting soil away from the side of the babyheads section (out of frame to the right of this photo).

Looking back up-trail towards the rock atop the steep boardwalk climb.
Work done:
* Trim vegetation to right of frame (left of trail from rider perspective) to restore original trail line over iron ramp
* place rocks and fill to left of frame to build up and restore function of waterbar behind timber
* cut drains to side of trail (left of frame) to assist with water shedding and reduce fall line water flow and trail erosion
* place trimmed vegetation over filled section to discourage use of retired line and trail braiding

Yellomundee Regional Park update for 18 Jul
Did a few laps today and track is in pretty good nick overall. The rocky section after the bridge is a bit techy for me, both short and long versions, and breaks the rhythm of the ride a bit. Otherwise the rest of the main track flows very nicely. The descent in the southernmost section of sniggle is getting pretty eroded in a couple of places, but didn't look like it had been used much lately?

Join our bike fixing workshop for "Bikes 4 Life" - on 28th July, at 171 Gibbs Street, Chatswood (northern End, behind Bunnings).
No special skills or tools required - if you can pump up a tyre, you can help. Come for an hour, or come for the day. Tools, Lunch and Music is provided. This event is organised by Chris, one of our local Northern Beaches MTB'ing mates. So far he and his volunteers have collected, fixed up and sent over 400 bikes to needy people in remote communities in Africa and Australia.
