Manly Dam update for 10 Jul

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Red/Closed

If you missed Jonny's predawn ride yesterday you're out of luck for at least the next couple of days. Lots of water lying in low spots around Allambie heights which almost always means the track is similarly saturated.

Be a good sport to the trail fairies and give the track a rest until it's dry.

If your mental health demands you go ride, try Duck Holes and Centre Tracks at Terrey Hills. The 12km road ride to the trailhead from the Dam is only 30 minutes on the treadley and is a great warmup Smiling

Red Hill update for 09 Jul

Area:
Red Hill
Status:
Red/Closed

Went for a walk this morning to gauge how its looking its looking after the recent wet stuff.

Utterly soaking.

And the motos have taken full advantage of this and done their best to create random drainage channels with their spinning wheels.

f###ing imbeciles.

Withdrawn: Felt Q820 26" HT size M

Price:
500.00

I'm wanting to trade my old 26" HT for a flat bar roadie or similar. I only use it on the road now so thought I may as well try and get something fit for purpose. I'm also happy to do a straight sale if anyone knows someone who wants an entry level bike.

It does have a few scratches but is in generally good condition. Mechanically it's sound, the chain gets cleaned every few hundred kms and the free hub has been replaced about 100km ago. I also serviced the hubs while I was doing the free hub. The crank Set and BB was upgraded about a year ago. I've also recently bled the brakes.

Manly Dam update for 09 Jul

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Rode this morning pre-dawn.
The section after the school was quite damp and the recent water channels were very soft at the left hand ends - stay right Eye-wink. The hill at the end of this section has been graded since the work has finished, it's no longer a technical climb, just point your steed uphill and get the cadence high, much easier but less fun.
The rest of the track was quite dry, a few watch outs:
1) the downhill section towards the creek has some sections off very soft mud if you drift off line - beware!
2) after the creek is, as expected, quite wet
3) entrance to the 19th hole has puddles after all the drop offs - these could get quite boggy if we have a lot of traffic (especially the final drop off the big rock)

Otherwise, all good, the old quagmire is holding up very well.

It rained briefly as I was finishing lap 2, but not enough to wet the trail I wouldn't have thought.

Price Drop! Again! - need this gone - no sensible offer refused!

Pictures updated.

We changed vehicle earlier this year and looks like won't be going back to anything with a hitch, soooooo...

Up for sale is a used Thule hitch mounted, 4 bike bike carrier, with cable lock. Plus zip stick stabiliser. Plus Snug Tite lock.

This looks like the current Hitching Post 4 model, but has silver arms instead of black. It fits 40mm hitch, but I'm sure you could easily get a sleeve for 50mm if required.

Price:
150.00

We changed vehicle earlier this year and looks like won't be going back to anything with roof rails, soooooo...

Up for sale is a used Thule ProRide rack. Silver. Passenger side. Ie. if your bike is facing forward the lever to lock/unlock the bike is accessed from the passenger side of the car. That's not to say you can't mount so your bike will face backwards and the lever is on the driver's side if you wanted.

Upper Mangrove Creek Road

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I've been wanting to ride along Upper Mangrove Creek Rd from the Dubbo Gully end for a while now so this afternoon I did. As it turns out it doesn't go all the way to Mangrove Creek Dam as the map suggests, however, after travelling about 4km and jumping a few gates (no keep out signs), the road ends at a dilapidated off the hinges opened gate, with a small sign off to the side saying "do not enter 6 German Shepherds running free", yeah right?
