Bike tinkering getting out of hand

If you thought you were bad, watch this (sorry no idea how to put the clip straight in here):

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/cyc...

Very interesting and very insightful into the mind of Graeme Obree – someone who knows how to make a bike go fast!

Bad news from the Wollongong MTB Club yesterday. The email that has gone out to members is as follows...

Thank you for all of the messages regarding the Appin Track.

We have been using the track without formal permission from the owners, however Derek has been in contact with them on several occasions discussing the continued use of the track.

29ers can climb well

Date:
1 Apr 12

Went to focus on the 2-4min climbs rather than the 10min ones I generally target on the road. Cascades is full of these and makes for an awesome training ground with so many hills in such a small area.

This one takes the cake in the area for steepness and rockiness.

I think I'm going to have to get off my ass and have another crack this weekend.

Giant Trance X3 2009 - Suspension Pivot bearings.

My trance has been a little noisy and further investigation of the causes has narrowed it down to bearings in the main pivot.
Anyone got any ideas on replacing the bearings?
Bearings rolling very rough on one side, so I have tried to repack with grease and see if that is going to help. To be tested!
I would prefer to just replace them...but am not that mechanically minded, otherwise I take it down to the bike shop....

Cheers
Shano.

Bike carriers

Hi there,

I am looking at getting a bike carrier that fits on a towbar hitch. Was checking out the Thule vertex 4. Anyone used one of theses? My bike is a specialized fsr xc where the shock is vertical so should have no problem being placed on a bike rack. However in future if I upgrade to a bike where the shock is along the top tube how could I put this on a bike carrier?
