Yellomundee Regional Park update for 11 Feb

Status:
Red/Closed

WSMTB members did an insepction of Yellomundee on Sat 11 Feb following the torrential rain on Thursday evening (100mm in 1 hour).

AVOID DISSAPOINTMENT - DO NOT GO TO YELLOMONDEE UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

The track is heavily damaged with large wash aways and potholes. Both the bridges over Shaws Ck are gone (ie Shaws and Trotting Track bridges) and the decent from the Farm to the Trotting Track is now dangerous with large wash aways. This means the entire area north of Shaws Farm Rd is out of action.

In the southern area, both decents from the Tower of Power and across the V-Ditch are un-ridable due to erosion damage. This puts the hill west of the fire road out of play.

IF WE GET at least 3-4 fine days in a row, then it may be possible to do a restricted loop such as:

- Start, single track to Nicki's Corner, left onto fireroad, 2nd right (just befor causway), and the up and down to Max's Bridge
- the Moto-X track and Hidden Bridge and back to Start area (large puddles at bottom of Moto-X track)
- over the tractor tyre and start the northern loop
- LEFT onto Shaws Fram Rd. There is no point in going right!
- ride 150m then left off Farm Rd, and then zig-zag back to Start

This gives about a 5km loop. BUT please only do this after things have dried out after 3-4 fine days.

It would be best if everyone just gave Yellomundee a rest until we are able to get in and do a heap of work.

thanks

Appin update for 11 Feb

Area:
Appin
Status:
Green/Open

I rode this morning. There's quite a bit of water on the track and puddles on many corners but nothing too deep. Riding may damage the track in it's sodden state.

Lane Cove National Park update for 11 Feb

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Did a night ride last night at around 9pm - track is OK but lots of deep muddy puddles as you would expect at the moment. Beware on the new crossing that they replaced a few weeks ago (near Delvins I think), going north some of the soil before the concrete has washed out so there is an unexpected lip. Should be able to spot in daylight but my mate Chris in front hit it hard and ended up with a puncture. Still were able to master tube replacement in the dark!

Jesmond Park/John Hunter Hospital Hill update for 10 Feb

some tracks would be better suited to white water rafting than riding with the amount of water coming from the top of the hill

Good Afternoon Mountain Bikers,

Unfortunately the track has not sufficiently dried out as yet, with further storms/rain/showers forecast for the next few days. Therefore the Manly Dam mountain bike track remains CLOSED this weekend. We will re-evaluate conditions early next week and advise accordingly

Kind regards,
