New strategy...

Date:

Almost no pedalling on flats or downhill. Attacking uphill. It 'felt' so much slower, but attacking the hills saves SO much time!

Mount Annan Botanic Garden update for 30 Dec

Status:
Green/Open

Track continues to be in great condition with just the right amount of grip , dry and dusty in places and a few ruts from the 24 . There have been some improvements to some previously boggy sections which are pretty cool too

Lane Cove National Park update for 30 Dec

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

I've ridden Lane Cove every morning this week and it's drying out very slowly - still plenty of puddles around.

Tubeless

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I've just had my first experience with 'Stans', CO2 cannisters, & installing a tubeless tyre. Quite straight forward, thank you to YouTube!

I have XTR tubeless ready rims. I have this evening taken off Kenda Small Block 8's (wirebead - with an inner tube) and replaced it with a proper tubeless tyre (Maxxis LUST Crossmark).

Awaba State Forest update for 29 Dec

Status:
Green/Open

29Dec2011. 99% good today, just a few patches of mud. Big puddle on the fire trail just before getting back on to the track before the salad bowl and a patch of mud on the steep descent before Ross River are the only things to look out for.

Getting fit, or going soft?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Over the past couple of years I've been increasing the intensity and distance of my rides to try and improve my fitness. I'm far from being a really fast rider, but I did finish the half fling in 3:01 this year, which is about 30 mins better than my time 2 years ago, so my fitness is improving. But here's the thing; in recent months I've found that if I drink more than 2 beers I get a hangover. My brother-in-law, a personal trainer, said he has seen this before with his clients - as they get fitter, their alcohol tolerance declines.

Manly Dam update for 29 Dec

Area:
Manly Dam
Status:
Green/Open

Rode the dam this morning, before the glorious sunshine and wind came through, so it can only be better now.

I'll stick my neck out and say the dam is as good as I've seen it. The ST is all good to go, and the only significant wetness is on FT.
