Lane Cove National Park update for 27 Dec

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Rode through from de Burgh's Bridge to bottom of Devlins Ck track today. It's not drying out any time soon. Plenty of puddles and running water, particularly after the hike a bike section, along the Avondale Ck section and upstream from Browns Waterhole bike path. Rode a little way into the "asteroid belt", but it's very eroded and rocky and my back was a bit ginger, so gave up on it. Good news is that the causeway on Devlin's Ck track is complete and the track is now open again. Didn't go past the causeway, but imagine that the upper reaches are still pretty damp.

News: Cyclists rebuffed at Lake Parramatta "They don’t want their nice, quiet walks interrupted by a collision with a MTB"

Parramatta councillors decide against extra tracks at Lake Parramatta. Cr Julia Finn said some mountain bike riders had not remained on the fire trail and damaged vegetation.

“I don’t like people coming to council when they’ve done the wrong thing,” she said. “People treasure the serenity of Lake Parramatta. and they’re happy for it to stay hidden. They don’t want their nice, quiet walks interrupted by a collision with a mountain bike.”

Help with choosing new wheels

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

After 18 months riding my 2010 Trance X2 t looks like I’ve given the wheels too much of a battering. They have a number of dings and wobbles in them and I’ve been advised by Bike Addiction that they are beyond repair.

After almost buying completely the wrong wheels form Gazza, 9mm instead of 15QR (sorry for pulling out at the 11th hour) I’ve realized I have no idea where to start and am hoping for some help from the community.

What I know is:
- I ride hard (probably a bit too hard) so need something strong
- I’m cost conscious and don’t need the latest and greatest.

Appin and Kessel run status?

Has anyone been around Appin or been down the Kessel run today?

I'm wanting to go down there tomorrow if it's dry enough.

Cheers
