Oaks trail - advice needed

One of my buddies (new nobmobber kiwi_phil) is organising a ride with a few mates to the Oaks trail in a few weeks.

Given my present constraints (post shoulder repair surgery, not allowed to risk falling off yet) am I asking for trouble? Or is it relatively unchallenging technically like say Perimeter + Long if I take it easy? I've been playing with things like riding down short sets of stairs, but there are no traction problems to catch you out there.

Thanks for your advice, guys. Smiling

Epic ride planning: ZigZag + Wolgan Valley + Glow-worm Tunnel - any tips?

Hi
I'm thinking of organising a ride with some mates in the Blue Mountains and came across the page below whilst doing some research.

http://www.railtrails.org.au/states/trails.php3?...

Seems to me that you could string together a pretty good loop starting somewhere near Zig-Zag railway, down Blackfelllows Hand Fire trail to Wolgan Valley, then back up the old rail trail through the Glow-Worm tunnel to finish the loop. Probably 80Km all up.

Has anyone tried this before? Any tips or traps I should be aware of? Clockwise or anti-clockwise for the loop?

cheers

Blue Mountains?

I'm in the blue mountains this weekend and wondering if:
(a) anyone is keen for a ride on sat morning around 0830 start?
OR
(b) any advice on where to go for a fun technical ride with a few hills etc. Around 2-4 hour ride?

Any info is appreciated at this very late notice.
You can drop me a line at [email protected]

Thanks
Ben

Linden Ridge this morning

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Here's a bit of a ride report from my ride at Linden Ridge today.

This one has a bit of everything, including 11kms of undulating singletrack and a cruisy firetrail with waterbars.

It worked out at about 25kms all up - out and back.

The track was nice and dry, and had very few riders on it. The singletrack section was pretty heavily vegetated in places, and was in need of a haircut. You definitely need protection on the eyes, knuckles, and knees. But in other parts it was fantastic, a good mix of technical sections, plus some flowy bits on a leaf litter base.

andersons and oaks (hot laps)

today i did the andersons trail in 1hr 40 from station to station, then dropped in for oaks station to station in 1hr 16. i'd be interested in seeing what the fastest times are for these rides, i thought those times were pretty sharp.

Toilets at the start of the Oaks

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

TTFH posted someplace else (and thought it was worth quoting him):

You may not have noticed, but there aren't any. However, when the station is open, there are toilets on the platform, and mountains trains all have toilets.

"What a strange way to start an email" you may be thinking...

Andos Extras? Kedumba Valley Road?

I was looking at the Andos map earlier and notice there are a few trails to the West of Kings Tableland road, around where the hospital is.

One of these is marked "Kedumba Valley Road" and looks to go to a lookout. Erm... and then down into the valley. If that is truly there must be crazy steep! Anyone been there?

Also - between Kedumba and Kings Tableland there looks to be a couple of shorter trails, very narrow one of 'em. Is this sekret sniggle? Eye-wink
