35th Lap - Solo 24hr

In case you didn't know, this weekend saw the 24 Hour Solo Champs, in which three gallant riders were listed.

Huge congratulations to Carlgroover who placed 12th overall and 2nd in his category with 35 laps in 24h33m. I don't know how you do it!

Damien has a DNF with 20 laps in 21h13m - don't know what happened here, but that doesn't look anything to be ashamed of!

Reading from MTB-OZ seems the Egg injured his legs and must be feeling pretty disappointed after doing 18 laps in 10h47m. The Spoon (who isn't on here but is a local lad deserving of support) sounds to have had some trouble...

Awaba WWS?

Hey, anyone want to do the Awaba WWS race in June? June 22 to be precise.

The Awaba course is new and shiny so wouldn't mind a look. Solo or pairs == taking it easy, but a threesome is much more fun, anyone game?

Dear lord, wait 'til Stuart reads that! Please, no smutty remarks unless you want to come to the event! Sticking out tongue

Update: Now in the calendar: http://nobmob.com/node/5140

Working Week partner

Anyone interested in riding next weekend as a pair in round 2 of the Working Week series? http://www.brightorangeevents.com/
Can't quite face doing 8 hours solo, but would like to push hard for 4.
Can provide lift if required.

Pre-Dirtworks Sleep?

Sleep? I'm yet to get a decent night's kip before any of the Dirtworks. I end up laying in my tent knowing I must get a decent rest but somehow that never happens.

No that I'm trying to make you nervous or anything! Eye-wink

I don't suppose it much matters when you're crawling up climbs on Womerah Ridge anyhow. Eye-wink

All that said - if anyone wants to share rental house/cabin/etc. close to St Albans think I'd be in that!

Dirt Works 2008 - Terrain question

Hi there

A few friends and myself have enrolled in the Dirt Works 2008 and have little idea what to expect terrain wise. We are currently training on Manly Dam, Bantry Bay and surrounds but I was wondering if the actual race is going to be less technical and more fire trails.

Has anyone done it that could help? If it is more fire trails we could be better off training at Oxford Falls, cascades and that sort of thing instead.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Dylan

NZO 24hr or 12hr or 100km April 5 and 6

entries are now open for the NZO 24hr weekend, you can choose between 24hr, 12hr and 100km race.

I did the 24hr in 07 and was alot of fun, short track of about 10km long, fairly flat, only a few smallish hills to negotiate, bit of single track, fire trail the usual stuff.
I dont really want to camp overnight this year so i am thinking of just doing the 100km option (10 laps i guess it will be)
Discounts are available of 10% at the moment if you enter before Jan 5.

Ever wanted to get a bunch of mates together and take on the world in
a team based down hill event???

>>From the demented minds of CTMBC and Bright Oragne Events we give you
the 8hrs of DH.

Taking place on the Lidsdale triple track (the short courses used for
the Lithgow state round)

The basic concept is teams of 3. Each rider gets 2 runs on each track

Wanted! Junior Riders (especially U17 & U19)

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Manly Warringah MTB are looking to field a number of teams in the Club Team Relay at the National Championships (http://www.mtbnationals.com.au) in January. Unfortunately while we have quite a few strong Elite riders, more fast old blokes than you can poke a stick at and a number of capable women we find ourselves short a few Junior riders to field a couple of our teams
