Last minute favour?

Anyone on the northern beaches got a new 10 speed xt or xtr rear derailer lying around that I could take off them, then return with a new one next week?
I know it's a long shot but I dont have any time to be driving round looking for one and have a race on Sunday.
Cheers,
Gazza

The mont

Hi guys . Just wondering if you can light camp fires at the mont? This is my first one and thought it may be a good idea to take a bit of the chill out of the night. Or roast some marshmallows. Cheers.

Communting\Training lights

I stepped over to the dark side recently and purchased my first roadie with the intention of getting some mid week training in to make those mtn bike days all the more enjoyable.

On my first evening out I almost got wiped out by a car. I was coming into a poorly light roundabout and the guy obviously didnt look and just pulled out in front of me. I roared, he braked and his bumper stopped inches from my back wheel. I would like to give him the benefit of the doubt and say I wasn't lit up enough. I had a pretty standard job on the front along with one of those LED flashers.

A better way to go downhill?

If you think a mountain bike is the best way down a big hill check out this coaster - no brakes.

Nutrition leading up to a long race.

Guys looks like I've been roped into Capitol Punishment.
What's the general consensus about what to eat leading up to and just prior to an event like this...and indeed during.

Tyre pressure and Planes??

I'm off to Rotorua next week for some fun, just a little excited !!!!!!

I know I need to let pressure out of shock and fork though how much do you need to let out in the tyres, I run UST at about 27ish psi.

Do I need to completly deflate or is there a certain pressure they can be let down to safely travel??

Cheers Sam

Yellomundee Effected by Flooding?

I noticed that the Yarramundi Bridge was closed due to flooding so I was just wondering if the Yellomundee track has been effected at all? I know it's fairly close to the river but has the water risen enough to cause concern?

Building my skills

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi
I have just joined up and thought that this might be the place for some advice. A few months back I went on a beginner skills clinic run by a company in the Northern Beaches called Sydney Bike Skills. It gave me quite a bit of confidence and I have been having a great time mountain biking on various tracks, suck as Manly Dam, Duck Holes etc.

What happens when you take cycling seriously

An interesting article in Saturday's AFR on NZ's efforts to provide facilities for cyclists and the effect it can have on the economy.

The 18 “Great Rides” comprising the New Zealand Cycle Trail will span the country and are designed to be conquered by biking dynamos and amateurs alike. When completed early next year, it will provide 2300 kilometres of trail, linking up with other largely on-road cycling routes and giving tourists more opportunities to cover the country by bike.

Soft tissue swelling (sit bone area)

Has anyone ever had the issue of the soft tissue around the sit bone area becoming really swollen?

I did a 7 hour mountain bike ride today and its swollen to the size of about 1/2 an egg. I only ever get issues with my left side? Occasionally I think I might get an ingrown hair or something because I can get like a tiny pimple that it extremely painful. Maybe the two are related because again, its only ever my left side.
