Hybrid tyres
Hi Guys,
So I'm currenlty commuting on my hardtail (well it's my wife's officially) and the tyres are now shot to bits.
Was thinking of fitting a hybrid slick/knobbly tyre so my missus can ride it on the dirt at weekends while I jump back on my dually.
Any advice appreciated on tyre choice.
Was looking at these.

Suggestions for a long-ish training ride this weekend
After the Convict 100 the other weekend I've signed up for the Husky 100 too! I did get a little lower back pain during the convict so had the bike fitted properly today and made a few changes.
So, with half a mind on trying out the new measurements, and half a mind on a good training ride, I'm looking for some local options for sunday arvo. I had thought of just doing 4 laps of the dam, but decided I should be more adventurous. I've done long / perimeter a few times up at Terrey Hills - any suggestions on linking these up with some other tracks up that way to make a 3 ish hour ride??
Stolen Bikes
Hi Guys,
Just a bit of a whinge - I have just had two bikes stolen from my garage in Collaroy - both 2012 white Specialized Epic Expert carbon 29s. The garage was locked and the bikes chained but but had little effect against bolt cutters. Another guy in the building lost a superfly and a giant.
The Specialized are quite distinct bikes (especially the XL) and I have never seen any out around the northern beaches. If you do happen to see them, please let me know.
Cheers

P.S. That's why I always switch Strava / Garmin to 'private' and still lock up my bike securely.
Injury cover
Just wondering, if I badly crash off my bike in the middle of the woods… there are going to be costs on:
– special intervention to drag me out from there
– a long ride in an ambulance / or better, a ride in the helicopter
– some hours in the surgical theatre
– few days of bad food at the hospital
– and lots of physio
What does Medicare take or not in all of this?
If I have a Private Health Ins. (and a basic cover) with like NIB, do they cover this?
I guess Medicare or Private Health Ins. will take a minimum responsibilities.
Bells on MTB's? How do you warn other trail users?
At the recent Forestville Park PoM info day I was discussing some concerns that local residents had regarding Mountain Bikes on trails. There was an elderly couple who were worried about being collected by a bike on the local trails. They mentioned Cascades, which although a wide fire trail, has them concerned due to the high speed and lack of warning that MTB'ers give. Obviously on the Forestville single trail they couldn't reconcile how they were not going to be in danger when sharing the trial.
Back Yamma Bigfoot

No Front Wheel
Obviously I don't get out much. I thought that 29ers were the next "big thing." But this week, on three separate occasions riding around Manly Dam, I have seen three (3) different people riding unicycles.
I don't know how they do it: How do they get up hills? How do they steer? How do they control their speed? What about getting over obstacles? How do they get under all the overhanging branches?
None of these riders was dressed like a clown, so I'm assuming it is serious.
Is it time for me to lose that front "training" wheel and jump onto the next big thing?
