New RTA road rules that effect bicycles.

All,

The RTA has implemented a major change to the way bicycles stop and turn at some newly marked traffic lights.

There are heavy fines for vehicle drivers of up to $405 and 4 demerit points and $54 for the bike rider if they don't comply.

Read the web site then answer this question, who the bloody hell would want to do a "hook turn" ?

Get the ambulances ready I think.

A tip that may save you some money and time.

So we were thinking about getting one of those bike rack stands that you latch onto your seat post to hang the bike up to make it easy to work on. No having to flip they bike over and work upside down to do gears etc.

Then, the little light bulb shone in blackbetty's dad's head and he decided to back the car into the garage with the bike rack on, and use that. Works a treat apparently.

Kangy Angy trails.

Blackbetty's dad and I went to check out these trails that we found behind tuggerah westfield. Lets just say I had a bit of a shocker. Fell off multiple times and feel really battered and bruised. THe one that sent me home was when it felt like I nearly hyper extended my elbow. The pain that I'm in now gives me a whole new and ridiculously high level of respect for GAZZA!

If you ride these trails you have probably seen a lot more walkers recently.

Every year Oxfam organise an event called "Trailwalker" for 2000 walkers to raise several million dollars to combat poverty:

http://www.oxfam.org.au/trailwalker/sydney/

This 100km walk this year is on 29-31 August 2008 and goes through the Cascades [Ridge Top, Quarry, Bare Creek & Cascades tracks] and Bantry Bay [near Ararat Reserve]
