sorry i missed you guys
Due to a late arrival and opting for a motel, then turning up late in the morning and farting about only to realise that the race had started, i missed the usual social aspect of this ride.

Stolen Klein Race
Hi All,
I've had a Klein Race stolen, it's an older bike but a real favourite of mine. Red in colour and has grey Kona rigid folks, Yellow Jersey Sticker near front derailer, other noticeable parts a purple drinks holder, cut down handle bars, very good condition for it's age ('96 year).
If anyone tries to pass it on would be happy to hear
Cheers
Bendy

Anybody there ?
I check this sit regularly and have the impression that there are hundreds of people out there riding every weekend....not this weekend ...4 rides and i only saw two people....went to oxford falls , then red hill then the dam, and that was just on saturday, sunday was not much different, was there something else on...........?

Commuting behind a Getz
Nice day to commute - makes a change from the rest of the week.
You've got to love it when you have to brake downhill behind a Hyundai Getz, but when you get to the steepest climb on the route they still can't get away[1].
Talking of which, perhaps I'll do the silly commute training route if it's still as nice this evening:

[1] OK - so they got to the lights at Union/Blues Point slightly ahead, but I just trundled to the front of the queue and lost everyone along Lavender St.

The great race
I had prepared for and thought about this race for so long I just couldn't wait to get going, so when I did I went too hard at the start, but it just felt effortless even though my heart rate didn't agree. One thing that was plain to see on my 1st lap (blue) and knowing the red lap from the 8hr was this course was not going to be easy to ride the full 24hrs, I sort of shrugged and thought I'll worry about that later.

Fuzzy eyes.....
Well this was one full on 24hr race!!!!!
I had the joy of the mad dash to the bikes then the race was on. We managed to get a really clean start and i was in a good position for the first lap. everyone jockeyed for positions for the early part of the lap then it settled to a really nice rythmn for the rest of the lap. I must say the down hill run home was worth the climb. I was buzzing at the end of the lap.
The funny part about this race is I only once got a chance to come down from that busy always doing something state.

Fun Fun Fun
Fun fun fun ouch ouch ouch.
28 laps - 24:10:39
2nd place - Mixed 3 Musketeers.
Gavin 11 Laps
Damien 9 Laps
Vanina 8 Laps
What a great weekend thanks to Gavin and Vanina you guys are top teammates.
My preparation was not as consistent as it should of been and coming down with a fever and cold earlier in the week which hadn’t really cleared up by Saturday was going to make this a hard weekend and it was.
We had a very exciting race trading places between third and second and even down to fourth at one stage after a double flat in the middle of the night.

Not so good
The old boyz category is getting competitive, our 3rd place last year could not be relived

My First 24 hour event
Slowly getting the race notches in my belt. Apart from a casual spin at the yellowmundee grand prix, this was not only my first 24 hour event, but also my first experience at a lap style team race. I have to say its a completely different style of riding/racing and its one I'm not so familiar with. I'm used to the endurance races where you lock into a sustainable rythm and just spin to your hearts content. This however I found much much harder than any other event I've done before. With the lap mentality you really do not allow yourself to let up at any point.

Hairy R's - Excellent Scott 24 Adventure
What a great weekend.
The weather was great - hot but great and the nights weren’t that cold.
Our camp site was in a perfect position – upwind from the dust, next to the natural bush toilets, far enough away from the loud speaker.
