Bunnings to Narrabeen lakes
Hi guys,
First time at Oxford falls last weekend. It was an excellent day. Thanks to all that have made those tracks so awesome.
We spoke to a few people there and they all mentioned a ride that can be done from near Belrose Bunnings all the way down to Narrabeen Lakes via single track for a lot of the way.
I can't see this trail marked on this website and have been looking at Google earth but can't quite discern the starting point. Is it off Kamber Rd?
Has any one got a map of this? GPX file?
thanks
Simon

MTB Guide a near Sydney
I am visiting near Sydney from Belgium and would like to go Mountain Biking. I have brough my shoes with clips and helment but need a bike and someone to show me some good local trails. Anyone free this saturday 4/10/14 or sunday 5/10/14? If you know of someone who could help me, let me know. You can also contact me by Phone (+32473830334) as I know this is last minute planning.
I tried getting in contact with 'Blue Mountain Bike' but they have not contacted me.
MTB trickle down??
some interesting new enhancements to the data that can be collected using Garmin's Vector power meter pedals, Garmin claim platform offset can be used to improve bike fit, peddling efficiency and potentially prevent injury! The current design makes these pedals too vulnerable for MTB but it'll be interesting to see how long it takes for this tech to trickle down to MTB?
Gotta love tech toys
Found Rear light - Manly Dam
Picked up a rear light at Manly Dam this morning - pm me with the make if you think its yours.
Tubeless Tyres
Being new to tubeless - what brings about a slow leak in a tyre? I've had the wheels for about 10 months and had to top up the air every few weeks. Now it's 20% flat after a couple of days. They are carbon rims so I don't think you can dent them - is it possibly a smallish hole in the tyre or more likely rims? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Bike week at Aldi
It's cheap it's cheerful, but mostly its cheap! My pick is the work stand but I would have a closer look at the tool kit if I didn't already have one. The sunglasses are pretty good too, exchangeable lenses https://www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/wednesda...

Lac Bassias Descent (1500m vertical at Hautacam, Pyrenees)
Now that's some proper MTB!
Love the variety of terrain on the way down. The guy gets a fair crack on down the bottom section.
Clicking noise from Mavic SLR 29 rear wheel
Hi, just had the rear hub replaced and an annoying clicking noise has started on the rear wheel. It sounds like cross spokes grinding, yet the spokes don't make contact on the cross. Has anyone encountered anything like this with Mavic SLRs? Thanks

Fling Training and Learning to Love Hill Reps
How's everyone's Fling training going? I'm loving these sunny days, which make it so much easier to get up early and get some training in before work.
I'd be interested in other people's advice on training for the Fling... in particular, how do you do hill reps?
Best rear tyres for Manly Dam - Tubes
Hi all,
Appreciate there's been many threads on tyres before but most seem to recommend tubeless. Any views on best tyres (running with inner tube) for Manly Dam on a 29er Hard tail?
I'm currently on Bontrager which came with the bike. I commute as well so a hard wearing option would be great (yes I'll get a commuter bike one day, and perhaps run tubeless on the MTB then). I'm not aiming for Gold at the Olympics - just want to get up that damn rock garden and around the Dam without dismounting as fast as I can.
Cheers,
Carry your rubbish out please?
warning; grumpy old man long rant short version
Hey Mr "insert name of tool who can’t take his rubbish with him", No doubt that you’re an awesome AM rider and thus entitled to smashing down the odd can of Redbull/Monster/V while changing out your tube because you pinch flatted on landing that sketchy A line.. (begin slow clap) but please carry out the cans/tube/other crap in the pockets of your baggies.. (begin booooooooo)
But its all good "bro".. someone else carried it all out for you.
Trail Trolls
Over the last years that I've been riding there's been two causes for damage to my bike. The first is expected; the odd stack and a bent derailleur, torn side walls in tyres, dinged rims etc.
Profiles updated - pick a ride, any ride!
Just a quick note to say that this morning I've gone through and given the ride profiles section a well overdue clean up. A filter has also been added so you can focus on just a specific area.
All profiles now have to be entered with GPS data. This means they all get a map and altitude data to users can see exactly what's what before heading out. There are more plans afoot that this is required for - stay tuned!
As always, this is a community site and everyone is encouraged to share their favourite routes through local trails. If you can add some pictures and encouraging words then all the better.
Enjoy!

Magpie scoreboard
On my ride to work this morning I started getting a little paranoid about getting involved in avian confrontation. I've been noticing zip ties on helmets recently and figured an impact was lurking. The I got to thinking how it would be a good idea to have an online register so I can plan my route to work accordingly. And lo and behold!

Oaks distances
Does anyone know the rough distances for the Oaks fire trail from the causeway up to the gate at the start of the single track, both height gained and distance travelled would be great, and then also the length of the single track from the gate back down to the end where it spits you onto the road at the hairpin above the causeway?
Many thanks
Installing a new chain
Gday fellas just got a little question for you guys (and girls).
I bought a new 10 speed shimano xt chain to replace my cheese cutter kmc and wondering if anyone has any tips for the install? Can i cut to the same length as my old chain or will stretching make it difficult? Also can i reuse the quick link and are different brand quicklinks interchangeable?
Thanks,
Jono.
Evocities XC series 2015
Sounds like an interesting series.
Would you travel the 3+ hours for this when there's already the Chocfoot and Rocky Trail series?
Clean Racing Update, + Last Chance Before the Fling…
A quick update on Clean Racing.
Please note Clean Racing is a NobMob Affiliate, so this is a paid ad.
Our first 2 members have been on the program for 10 days now.
Bailey was already very lean and fit, but is looking to build more strength and speed. After 10 days on our nutrition and training program he reports feeling stronger and recovering faster, which is allowing him to get more from his training. He had a great race at Ourimbah on Sunday, finishing 3rd in B Grade.
Oval chainring?

Has anyone heard/used one of these ones? According to them you will have basically 2 chainrings in one?
Help something weird going on with my fork
Need some help. When pumping air into my fork it seems ok until it reaches around 60psi. Then as I try to pump more air it shoots up to 100psi. I can feel quite a lot of resistance if I try to pump any more . The needle on the gauge gradually goes down. I've tried another pump but same thing. Is the air not going into the fork but just filling the hose on the pump? Any help appreciated
