Saturday, October 4 is IMBA's Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day
IMBA will celebrate its eleventh-annual Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day (#TKMBD) on Saturday, October 4, 2014. This is a great opportunity for you to share your passion for pedaling with kids!
Details here: https://www.imba.com/kids
Of course this isn't restricted to North America though. Why not arrange your own kids ride? Don't forget to post it up in the caldendar.
Manly Dam
Hey guys saw this video and I don't recognise half the spots in it. Is there more than just the one track at manly dam?

27.5 inch parts and 26 inch parts
Can anyone advise what parts are interchangeable between the two sizes.
Ie; wheels, brakes, forks, running gears
Cheers

High calibre elite
As I was finishing the last few kms of the Kowalski 100 yesterday (towards the back of the pack - hours after the elites finished!) I thought to myself - how cool would it be to be cheered home by the elites?
I crossed the finish line, feeling sore but satisfied in my achievement. I looked up, and saw none other than the great Brett Bellchambers standing there cheering home the backmarkers. I've seen Brett cheering on riders in other races around Canberra as well - even when he's not participating.
Camping near east Kowen
Hi guys and girls!
Is there anywhere near East Kowen to camp? planning on heading down there this coming weekend for Saturday night riding to prep for Mont24.
Cheers
Accessing Oxford Falls from near cnr Mona Vale Rd and Forest Way
Hi,
Can anyone tell me if this is possible? And if so, where the access point is, and how ridable it is. Looking to join onto 5 mile creek trail.
Thanks
Oberon Trails
I'm staying in Oberon for the weekend in just over a months time and was going to take the bike.
What trails are there in the area?
Rubena 29er tyres
I've had the chance to play with some Rubena tyres over the last few months on the 29er.
My thoughts here:
http://www.bicycles.net.au/2014/09/rubena-kratos...
For the racer boys, I'd add that they perhaps don't roll quite as fast as a Rocket Ron + Racing Ralph combo, but if you're after a robust set of training tyres that give good grip and wear, they're a good buy.
Disclosure: the tyres and sealant were provided at no charge for the purpose of the review.

For those running 1x10 gears, a few questions
Do you miss your 2x10 or 3x10 setup ?
I'm thinking of going 1x10 (34t front and getting the 42T rear for my XT cassette), as I've had enough of the front dérailleur rubbing on my chain. I think I should be alright running 34x42 as the lowest gear, after playing with some online gear charts.
Any other downsides of going 1x10 except for losing a range of gears ?
Cheers,
Mario
Bike lights
Ok what's the best out there say upto $250 to $300 want to use them for both my road bike to get to work and an occasional night ride on my mtb
Thanks

WYLDE MTB Trail Roly Poly A-Line: Take Extreme Care!
Hi All,
I smashed my collar bone into three pieces last Saturday trying to ride over the raised platform which I think is called the Roly Poly A-Line. Apologies if I got the name wrong, I didn't bother to go back and check.
Warringah Councillors, read this.
Rather than being bothered to get accurate costings, Warringah Councillors voted to turn down the chance to get involved in Bare Creek Bike Park and be part of a solution that created something that draws much needed riders and spending (and jobs) to the area.
Well unlike you (Mr Giltinan and Mr Regan in particular), some people do get it. Here's an example of what you're missing out on, thanks to your shafting of riders at the 11th hour on this project.
NZ integrated mtb calendar / rider ranking system
This looks like an interesting (and ambitious?) idea....
Short but essential video for any cyclist

Menai?
Planning to visit Menai on Saturday. Have not been there in ages and from this forum it seems it's undergone some major changes in the 5+ years since I last rode it.
Question: Is the track Db entry on this site and all info up to date or are there more recent track maps one should consult?
Cheers,
Staffan

Manly Dam Getting some more Love!
Saw this on the Warringah Council Website- October, Decent to King St south of Maroa Cres. I'm guessing that's only about 150-200 meters? Still, if they can keep slowly working their way around we will get a relatively weather tolerant track!

Manly Dam Mountain Bike Track Upgrade
WHERE: In Track Section 10 South of Maroa Cres to King Street
WHEN: October
Trail information St. Ives Showground
Would the person or persons who last week (approx. 11th Sept.) seen doing track ? maintenance on riding trails leading out of St. Ives showground please consider what they are doing e.g.digging trenches across the trails to drain water in approx. 25 locations, laying sticks and branches across muddy sections dist.approx. 5 metres. I am under the impression riding a mountain bike is in the challenge of riding natural terrain.
What kind of saddle do you have?
Hi there,
I have a Serfas saddle on my bike and it really isn't comfy.
As my ride goes on, I find it I'm favouring staying out of the saddle ha ha
What's comfy out there? The king jewls needs it
Cheers robbie

Geax tyres are no more
Vittoria has dropped the GEAX brand they established in 1997, and will now sell its MTB tyres under the Vittoria label.
Will Ourimbah be dry enough by Sunday, or where else to ride?
Hey,
Really in need of a ride on some tracks now, especially since I am doing the Kowalski Classic next weekend. Getting cranky only riding in the gym and the occasional road ride.
I am down in Sydney, and don't want to make the drive up to Ourimbah if it's not rideable. So can anyone with some more knowledge and insight let me know if it's rideable.
And does anyone have alternative suggestions on where to ride this weekend?
Does wicking gear actually keep you cooler than cotton or is it just more marketing hype?
Expensive wicking form fitting Cycling shirt or cotton T shirt? Which is really better in warm conditions for the MTB rider? (Less wind drag is one reason for the roadies to wear them)
In the market for new shirts so I've been looking at the evidence for wicking shirts (standard cycling shirts of today) being better than cotton. I can find no research articles that indicate the modern wicking shirt is better than $10 cotton, but some that indicate there is no difference between them in thermoregulation of body heat or comfort in warm weather (over 25c).
Seen this one yet? This jump is just INSANE
This jump is some of the most insane things I've seen in awhile..
