Help for purchasing a new race MTB!
Hi guys,
At the realization that my three killer years of growth, development and learning on my Giant Anthem X3, have put the machine on its last wheels, it's time to return to the bike shops.
At the advice of many, and seeing the models of the winning cyclists at Convict recently (etc,) I think it's time to go for the 29er model.
Rav X Lights - Has anyone used them - Can't find a review anywhere online?
Hey Guys
I'm trying to find a review on the Rav X Scorcher 1800 Lumen but can't find anything anywhere. Has anyone used their lights?
Cheers

Glue that doesn't set anymore?
I had the nice experience yesterday at Yellowmundew to find out that glue to affix the patch on the tube… do sometime not set anymore!
Fixed my wheel once after a small puncture, then after 200m had to redo it again – and had confirmation after another 200m that the glue doesn't set. Thankfully I had another new tube with me and could enjoy the 3/4 of the trail.
Have to remember tonight to remove it from my backpack.
Btw, when you have a puncture on the inside, and there is nothing sharp on the rim… would that be because I had too much pressure?
Maintaining shifters
Hi all. Was hoping some people would help me with a question...
Typically I maintain my bike by hosing it down with a fine, low-pressure mist spray from the garden hose followed by towel drying and then lubrication of all relevant parts. I am pretty thorough to make sure lube is applied anywhere and everywhere that needs it to prevent moisture hanging around and any corrosion. I do cleats, headset, rear mech, cables, chain of course, etc etc.
Finally succumed and got me a big wheeler
Not sure if this is the right spot, but thought I'd post up my recent purchase. I've been building this for some time, finally got it out the other night for a proper ride. I freakin love it! I got it as an XC race bike, as I mainly do enduro type events and wanted a dually and a 29 that is race orientated but still fun to ride, particularly on the downs. This was the only logical option and boy am I glad I got it.
new chain....shimano slx group set
hey guys I'm just after some help, the lack of knowledge has finally hit me.
I've kinked a chain on my bike, and have started looking for a new chain,
I'm running a 3x10 system
current chain has 112 links, when buying a new chain I'm only offered 116 or 110, is it advised that i break the chain down or what, i don't know its completely different from the mx
thanks guys
Mods to help with seat time
I'm after some advice on what mods i can do to my current ride to make it more suited for longer rides, doing more road rides with open flat fire trails..
Current bike is a Merida Matts lite XT
http://www.merida.com.au/2013-bikes/mtb-hardtail...
I have already bought some fast touring tyres & looking at a carbon flat bar option.
Does anyone have any other advice or help on what mods will help with long seat time?
Thanks
My 2011 Sworks Epic...should I convert it to 27.5
I am seriously thinking about converting my 2011 Sworks Epic to a 650b. Have found images of same bike with conversion done. Clearance seems ok on both front and back with ZTR Crests and RRs.
What are your guys thoughts on it. Can get Crests on Pushys at the moment for $329.
No other changes needed so can flick between 26" and 27.5".

Opinions wanted. XT wheels or custom build?
I'm wanting to upgrade my wheels very shortly, definitely before the Husky next month anyway.
I've started looking at getting a custom wheels set made up but get lost with the vast amount of choice and variations of rim, hub and spoke. Is it worth the fuss or do I just get a set of XT wheels off the shelf?
My LBS will do the XT wheels for the same price as CRC but if I want custom built, they obviously have a build charge, where as CRC will build for nothing as long as all the parts are bought from them, but I don't know what parts to choose!!
Tubeless tyre pressure
Hi folks,
I switched to running tubeless about a year ago and love not getting pinch flats anymore but I seem to have to add air more regularly than when I was running tubes to keep the pressure I want. (By the way my tyres don't go completely flat, they just don't have the pressure I want)
I was just wondering if this is the norm? How often does everyone else add air to their tyres?
Cheers
