Schwalbe Nobby Nic - thoughts or experiences?

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

I rode these for the first time today on a Trance 29er and had 2 crashes on gravelly turns. I suspect that the tread is too open, it moves around and slips quite a bit, but the edge looks good and it climbs well.

I'm used to Spesh Fast Tracks.

What are your thoughts or experiences?

Bleeding XT 785's easy or hard?

Levers have too much play and are in need of bleeding. Is this a DIY job if you have the right tools or LBS?

What tools are required if DIY?

ISM Adamo Saddles

They make a claim at being the worlds most comfortable bike saddle with their patent design.

They look very interesting and have grabbed my attention. I'm Wondering if anyone else has tried one of these or have an opinion.

Suspension Forks : Stupid quesiton

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Do coil suspension forks usually make a 'psst' sound when rebounding ? The sound of air escaping (or probably rushing back in) ?

My old crappy Suntours and S/H Rockshox Dart never made any noise at all. But a new set of RockShox XC30 make the noise. I assume it is normal?

I know the XC30's are not a high level fork, but they make the Suntours and Darts feel like a rigid toy fork. I can actually hit bumps and rocks hard without bouncing and losing traction!

Thanks for any comments regarding the air/psst noise. I kind of like it.

What bottom bracket is compatible?

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

I did a bit of an overhaul on my bike this afternoon and noticed the cranks were a bit stiff to turn, after further investigation it turns out the right hand side BB bearing has seized. As I'm up for a replacement, I thought I may as well upgrade at the same time. The only problem is, I don't know how to read the markings and work out what size I'm looking for. Here are a couple of pics, if someone would be so kind as to de-code them for me. Laughing out loud

Shimano SLX brakes 2012

Here we go again... Squeaking Shimano brakes.
I have a Giant trance X1 2012 I need to know what type of SLX brake pads they come with as standard?
Brakes are m 666 - what pads do they have resin or metal? and can i/should I replace with the finned ones?
Whats the difference and if Im replacing to get rid of the squeal what should I get.
I have tried cleaning and rotors etc so swapping pads is next on the list.

Weird thing is... when Im riding and braking hard ( eg off road) little to no squeal. In the car park or street riding they squeal like a scalded cat??

Fox Float RP23 exploded

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

G'day Peeps!
Went for a city ride with the kids yesterday, and came back to our chained up bikes to discover a large puddle of fluid under my bike. Investigation found source was my Fox RP23 rear shock. There's actually oil all around its position to I'm guessing some seal failed pretty suddenly. In effect I've lost all damping (it still rests where it should, but now just bounces like a pogo stick).

HEY guys new to the sport and im riding a ktm ultra x 29er. im just seeking some advice i find the bike seems to throw me over the handle bars very easily compared to riding friends 26ers.I was wondering if this is a common problem with 29ers or my bike in particular and if any thing can be done to fix this problem.. e.g new bars etc
