Seat post views?

After a seat post to take some of the jarring out of the hardtail and give me 50+ back some relief. Anyone tried the carbon flexi seat posts? Someone put me onto the Syntace P6 carbon flex seat post and by all reports, looks to be what I am looking for. Just wondering if anyone here has bought one? They are pretty expensive, but worth the relief I imagine.
cheers

Which Rear Deraileur for 11-28 9spd cassette

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Looking for a rear derailleur that will work on an 11-28 cassette to replace the rubbish Deore M591 that is currently on my bike.
I have tried XT shadow derailleur but it didn't shift well with the close ratios of the 11-28. I was looking at the XT M771 rear derailleur but I am unsure if it will work, hence my question here.
Bit more information - I am running a triple crank 22/32/42.

Any ideas?

Bug windscreens

NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.

Lately I've been doing alot more night riding. While copping a bug in the mouth sucks. I bug blinding you at high speed is worse. I think i need to invest in some glasses that are ideally suitable for day and night. I also find I loose depth perception wih glasses. Im not sure if this common for others or because of my eyes or because I have only ever used service station cheapies in the past.

Whats you recommendations?

These got my attention.

Conti fail

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

just to add to the Conti vs Schwalbe debate... i've been riding the same tyre combo for years, Rocket Ron Evolution TL ready at the front, Racing Ralph Double Defense at the back. set up as tubeless of course. never torn a sidewall or any other issues (apart maybe from the initial setup of the double defense on the rear which is a PITA, but nothing a Lezyne pump and removable valve cores couldn't sort out)

Squeaky shimano disc brakes

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi

Im sure this has been asked many times before but a decent look through the forum didnt find anything recent.

I have shimano XT disc brakes which wont stop squeaking,

I have cleaned the rotors and changed the pads, which worked for a few weeks, then the squeaking gradually came back, I recently changed the tyres and now the squeaking is worse than ever.

I have realigned the brakes, but made no difference.

Im planning on going out for a decent ride and jsut putting up with the noise to see if they will sort themselves out.

Havoc vs Mavic on Hope

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

Hi all,

I've been looking for a new wheelset for a while and have narrowed it down to either: 1) 2012 Easton Havoc UST, or 2) 2013 Mavic EX823 on Hope EVO 2 .... Smiling

Both are UST out-of-the-box (a must). The price difference isn't all that great between the two, so that's not really a factor.

I'm a little concerned though, that the Havoc's might be a bit more trouble if/when you need to replace spokes (not as readily available?), and that there were problems reported with bearing preloads from some users (maybe fixed in newer versions) ?.

XT disc brake setup

Just been fitting the new XT disc brakes I bought after much recommendation on here. Just a question for all you current XT owners - the Avid's that I've taken off had the contoured washers on the mounting posts to allow some lateral movement in the set up. Are these washers necessary/recommended for the XT's? I've put them on without them at the moment and they seem to be fine.

Tires out of round

Below is a preview, click to read the full post

With out sounding like a total newbie here, I'm hoping someone might be able to throw me a bone on a recent issue.

I have a giant 29er fitted with the standard schwalbe nobby nics that came with the bike.
Today I went to rotate the tires front to rear, and once inflated both are incredibly out of round, and seem off centre of the rim.

I deflated and re-inflated them and tried to manipulate the way they sit on the rims but without much luck.

I've changed tires a million times without issue, however this is the first time on the 29er.

Am I missing something?
