Ourimbah State Forest update for 11 Jun

Status:
Amber/Some Issues

Parts are ok but there is a lot of mud and plenty of boggy patches. Needs a good week of dry weather to sort itself out, at present almost a red

Replacing gear cables and more.

Though i would replace all my gear cables and outers because there too short. First time doing this sorta thing so is there anything i must look avoid or do to make my life a little easier.

I also picked myself up some chain lube and was wondering if its the right sorta stuff to be using. I got the chain wax.

I also noticed that my hubs aren't running very smoothly. There not the best hubs (standard ones) but is there anything way i can clean them or what not?

Slowly learning how to maintain my bike myself so thanks for the help.

First timed run

Date:
12 Jun 11

Casual but quick ride with mates - flat out for the helipad to gate section, and again up the hill to the top speed hump. Did the single track pretty flat out too. Soooooo much fun! Awesome! Got an interesting top speed reading - need to verify on the computer.

Was on a casual but quick ride with mates. Gave it the herbs for this section though.

Second Bike choice

Need new bike suggestions. Am 40+ 90kg and currently riding a 9yo hardtail twice a week around Terrey Hills. Wanting to increase my Mtb fitness/skills etc and need a new bike. Any thoughts on the Giant Anthem X1 2011 26". Budget $3000. Want to do Northern beaches trails (typically perimiter, long, ryland, sandy, centre, chiltern, duckhole + any single track) for training and aiming on XC race (intermediate level) and adventure racing. Any suggestions welcome. (N needs to equal 1 - I'll worry about +1 later).

Fox RP23 Sag Setting

Hi,

I have just picked up an Anthem X1 29er (the most farkin ugly bike on the planet). The RP23 is 100mm and my understanding is that the sag must be 25mm, but to get to that amount of sag I have to drop the pressure in the shock to about 57psi which seems low to me. I am about 64kg.

Cheers
Ian
