Cascades update for 27 Feb
Mostly dry, just the occasional puddle and one tricky mud spot, but my guide today mentioned that particular spot never dries out.
Lots of babyhead-sized rocks on some descents, and sand drifts in places you may not be expecting, so keep your eyes peeled. The recent heavy rain has made the tracks a lot rougher (and more interesting) in a few places.
This was my first ride on Cascades so the comparisons come courtesy of my riding partner.
I can see why Cardiac Climb gets its name! LOL Great ride - thanks, jacojoco.

A Dam good ride
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
King Street (near corner with Arana Street), Manly Vale. You know - outside Manly Hydraulics Lab.
I'll be out celebrating/circulating in the morning for a few hours.
This is not really an organised ride, more an invitation to join in for a lap, or 2/3/4 as you wish.
My plan is to do 2 or 3 'training' laps in the mid to high 30's, on the Mojo, then jump on the single speed and do a couple more at a more relaxed pace.
Meet at the hydraulics lab, I'll be there in my blue subaru wagon.

Dirtworks: Please join Team NobMob and 'Crank for a Cure!'
Each year, many riders go through the stresses and strains of training for and
racing in the Dirtworks 100. As hard as times may get in the saddle, nothing on
a bike compares to the pain and anguish that patients and their families face
when dealing with Cancer.
Most of our friends in the NobMob (http://nobmob.com/) and Erina Bikeworx
(http://www.bikeworx.com.au/) families will have been affected by this awful
disease, and unfortunately Cancer has pointed it's ugly finger at my family
over the past few years.

Yellomundee Regional Park update for 27 Feb
Majority of the trail is fine and very rideable. But track work is needed especially north of the house. Grass is over grown to the point that the trail can be barely visible and the bridge crossing the creek has collapsed under the water and is unridable and will need to be repaired.

Mont 2010 training ride @ Terrey Hills/West Head
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Terrey Hills shops / Fire brigade car park
It's another "Team Big Test Icicles" training ride for the Mont 2010.
Come along for a reasonably fast paced training ride starting with Centre track in reverse, moving on to Towlers Bay for some decents and climbs and scenery; and a bit of Salvation track on the way back.
This is open for all to join; we just want to test ride our new team emblem attached to our seats.... (in anodised red of course....)

Red Hill update for 26 Feb
The rim ride is mostly dry, just one or two small puddles.
But there's still some larger deep puddles at Mr MotoX, Garden of Gullies & Cromer Connector that are difficult to avoid.
Also, there was a decent shower after I left, so it'll still be amber for a few more days yet.
I didn't get across to the Beacon Hill side & I'm not familiar with that section, so I can't comment there...

Some advice on Downhill riding please
I need some advice if any is available on getting into Downhill riding. I ride XC, freeride now on a Specialized Enduro 5" travel bike. But have always had a desire to ride a chunky downhill rig. I just want to know if I purchase a downhill bike would there be any weekend groups I could link up with that do downhill riding as i dont think it is a discipline that I should do on my own. Also after clipping in for so long on road and mountain bikes, from what I see this is a no no when it comes to riding downhill, platforms only is this correct ? Thanks
