Hours of Fun
How much fun was that? I haven't done a race like this before (the 24 hour Mont doesn't really count - it was more an endurance than sprint event) and it turned out to be tough. Maybe this was down to the course and heat? Didn't the elites manage 14 laps? Results are in and Solo male winner did 13 laps. Now wait a sec, these boys normally do 100Km in 4 hours so to do only 130Km in 8 must say something about the conditions!
Hard as it was, fantastic day out and loads of fun. There was pain, particularly from cramps in the thighs which normally never happens to me - although calf muscles sometimes complain. A few hard, sprint laps turned out to be a completely different kind of punishment to enduro events. I found that coming in after pushing for a lap left one exhausted, but because it's only been 10Ks, well, the exhaustion soon subsided and everything was good.
It was also very nice that we (Cupcake, Junkie and I) ended up doing 4 laps each. This was just under 3 hours riding for me, I suspect Junkie rode maybe 5-10 mins a lap faster average (mine wasn't helped by those cramps in the final lap which dragged the average time down badly) and Cupcake probably could have done so if it wasn't for his puncture. Yeah, so although I was going to the slowest Slow Joe, wasn't that much off the pace.

Some people ...
Some people have all the luck. Fancy having the chance to do runs down Mt Panorama with it closed off to traffic.
I like my life.
this was a test for Newtons Playground
The boarders has to test to see how far up the Mount they and the street luges would be able to start and still get around Forest Elbow.
All the way from the top... For the record I was giving the boarders a start and then trying to catch them.

manly dam mantainence
hi, who is wasting their time putting in berms and concreting in rocks at the dam???
If you want a 4x track then go to home bush,
If you want concrete, go to centenial park,
Leave the place alone, and stop ruining it,
you guys have created more than one dam up there.
cheers
Turkey

Getting my time down
Did a 'quick' lap on the way home from work.
Warmed up comuting home from North Sydney, and hit the dam track at the end of the road section up from the school, before the 'top' school. Set my stopwatch going at the council caravan at the section behind the houses where the white gravel single track winds through.
Started of pretty well, but took a while to get into the flow along the golf course single track.

Silly Cheapskate Question About Expired Gels
I was going through my pantry and I discovered some Endura and GU energy gels that I thought I would use for Ourimbah this weekend.
The problem is, the gels expired in 2006.
Errr ... for the sake of saving a few dollars, is it worth taking the risk by using them? I'm cheap and I hate to see food go to waste.

Fox Talas stuck at max travel
My Fox Talas are supposed to have or at least it did have 3 travel settings but today its stuck on max travel, anyone had this before or know how to fix it as store I bought it from will send away to be repaired and they're not sure how long this will take and I'd prefer not to send it if there's an easy fix.

CANCELLED DUE TO HEAVY RAIN IN RED HILL AREA
-------
This is technical riding at it's best. Want some practice in the best technical riding that Sydney has to offer? Gee, I sound like I'm selling something.
I will be riding this to practice my technical skills. It has been a long time since I have practiced on a track like this. Hopefully the weather remains good. The ride will involve stopping and starting, to play and practice on various parts of the trail.

Cruise around Terry Hills
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Terry Hills Tavern Car Park (High Side)
Hi,
Wanna go for a cruise around Terry Hills?
I'm pretty sure that there are no races to train for so there might not be any roidness (is that a word??). Chances are I won't get on a bike until then so i need something nice and easy to get back into the saddle with.
Newcomers are all welcome, some sort of a lights will be needed as the sun will set and we will have to ride in the ordinary dusk sort of light.
Post ride drinks at the beer garden afterwards.

hayes nightmare
had huge brake issues over last 3 weeks, first with a seeming air bubble making front lever go all the way to bars without gripping at random times (usually when i needed it most!) tried bleeding myself *slap* and made it worse, then foolishly squeezed lever with no pads in and popped out piston, then tried to push piston back in, slipped and broke off post, then bought new piston and tried to reinstall, rounding the bridging bolt in the caliper using a worn allen wrench, subsequently tasking it to a shop to get drilled out and rebuilt...THEN got it home to find 5 hours+ of re-bleeding had no

tyre talk
Just wondering what people think is the best xc/am AND dh tyre? something nice and fast for xc stuff, but can handle full downhilling..if there is such a thing! ..and if there is, if there is one that is also less than 2.5"...
